What? Nothing to say on this from anyone? I guess it was fairly perfunctory
and non-newsworthy, not to mention insulting and embarassing on so many
levels. But it was not without comedy. My fave, um, highlight:

"America is addicted to oil" (!).

Nice. Isn't that kinda like your crack dealer telling you that you have a
drug problem? Way to go, W.

I saw the irony in that comment too... I also enjoyed his comment today, in which he referred to himself as the "Educator in Chief."

    The comedy just writes itself...

The fact that most of our oil imports don't come from the Middle East really ruined the moment.

Wow. So George Dubya (How Much is This Many?) Bush is an educator eh?

Wow. That explains a lot don't it?

And I agree, this stuff does write itself.

I was watching the news the other day, and Bush was giving a speech at a college…I can’t remember which one. Anyway, one of the students asked him a question that was just hilarious. He said, “Mr. President, I know you’re a rancher, and I was just wondering if you have seen Brokeback Mountain, and what your thoughts were.”

The crowd died laughing, and I choked on the cake I was eating. It was truly classic.

I was somewhat fixated on his discussion about Iran and how he spoke "directly" to the people of Iran. Kinda worries me. Can we expect the same thing we did with Iraq to be on Iran?

I could be wrong, but I don’t think Bush himself has a clear stance on anything he speaks about. I think he just says what his advisors and aides tell him to. I’m sure he has a stance, but whether it’s in line with what he says is suspect to me. It’s seems clear to me when he speaks without having something in front of him that was written by someone else, he shows his apparently low intellect.

    Anybody else think this?

Brad, if you were a tall-standing, brush-clearing, draft-dodging Texan (via Connecticut), would you let anyone put words in your mouth?

It's amazing how everyone evaluates Bush's presidency while he's in office. A more accurate one will come after he's gone, whether good or bad. History unfolds- actions and policies have consequences of which come to light in the near or distant future.

That's true, but there is nothing wrong with giving an opinion...whether it's wrong or right.

To some degree I agree, but suggesting that people defer in forming an opinion of either the man or his performance until well after his term expires isn't reasonable.

You're right. All I'm saying is lets see his policies play out. Clinton was praised by many during his terms, but later on we found out about his administration's shortcomings on terrorism, the DOJ, the SEC, corporate scams, North Korea etc- which changed peoples' image/opinion of him.
