Default Anybody here with a Wolfgang US Standard?

I have one and I have posted on other in order to find out how to let my whammy bar swing freely like ed's. Currently mine swings freely, but only because I don't screw it in fully. I don't wanna keep using it like this because i dont want to wear the bar out. So how can you screw the bar in all the way and still have it swing freely. There is a bolt on the back of the guitar near the springs but I can't loosen it. HELP!!!

Take off the back plate and you'll see a nut directly under the whammy bar. Use a long socket or wrench to loosen it whille holding on to the bar on top. It's a little awkward to do but basicly they will go in opposite directions. Hope this helps.

Ed's do that because Ed uses Floyds that have the top screw sleeve. Wolfgangs are not equipped that way...

The wolfgang's can be adjusted to swing freely. I have four Wolf Standards and I modified them like I explained above to swing. The EBMM's have a different style of Floyd's that have a sleeve that the bar pop's into and doesn't screw in. Supposedly his Wolf's are like everybody else's.

This is the case with the Wolfgang Trem. You can adjust it to make it swing freely. I do believe that Ed's guitars did come with a different Peavey Licensed trem though. I have a first year standard and the trem is different then all other Wolfgangs I have owned or seen. I guess a few of the early Wolfgangs came this way where the bar doesn't have threads on it but a nut with threads that holds the bar on.

Wow, I had no idea that the first few ones had a different trem. Are they the same as the EBMM models? I have two patent pendings and the trems are the same as on my custom shop special and my flame top.

I don't know about different trems on the production models, but Ed has used some Wolfgangs with the original Floyd Rose on them, rather than the licensed.

I have other Wolfgangs and the trem is really the same (still says Peavey on the side) except that the bar gets screwed in like a Real Floyd Rose.

Some people used the 'collered' threadless arms (pic above) as a replacement for the Peavey original threaded arms for convenience. The Peavey trem also has a spring washer on it that allows the arm some give without actually swinging totally loose. The original Floyds didnt have the spring washer. Ive found that although the 'collared' arms are easier to take off and on, if you have them too loose the collar undoes completely and the arm can come off while playing! I think the 'collared' Floyds are Floyd Rose II's arent they? Fender use those hence they are on the Floyds on the Charvel EVH's. correct me if I am wrong.

Thats the common answer i've gotten, use a deep socket wrench. I understand that but the bolt on the beck is so close to the inner wall of the "cavity" so to speak that a wrench wont get all of the bolt. I am really inept when it comes to things like this so pardon me for the stupid questions. lol.
