Default This Has Got To Stop - They've Remade The Omen

Yep, some dumbass in an over-decorated office thought this was a good idea.

What was wrong with the first one? It's considered a classic so why remake it?

Doesn't anyone in Hollywood read books? If they don't want to do Poe they still have some Stephen King and Dean Koontz novels they can whipe into halfway decent flicks.

OR... just rip-off the original and update it.

How do people live with their heads so far up their own ass?

Hollywood has run out of Ideas, if you don't believe me please see the following somewhat recently made movies...

    Herbie the Love Bug
    Stepford Wives
    Guess Who
    Dukes of Hazzard
    Amityville Horror

And those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head

The original Omen movies kick ass, i'm sure Hollywood will find a way to fuck it up.

I swear, I'm just waiting for The Serpent and the Rainbow to be remade Hollywood has no orignal ideas anymore, especially with horror movies. The last horror movie I saw in the theater that I remember liking was 28 Days Later, which came out THREE FRIGGEN YEARS AGO and was a UK import.

Wow, I just checked out imdb and it says The Wicker Man is being remade!! That was good movie, leave it alone!!

I heard about that!! How do they think they can improve on the original?? The only remake I'll go see is Evil Dead coming out this year, mostly because Sam Rami is working with it. Other than that forget 'em!!

I agree! How are they going to make a scary cordless phone ringing sound (compared to that damn loud rotary phone!) Have you checked the children?

Outrageous! Let's hope the powers of the anti-Christ destroys the negative after completion.

BTW, is there a link to this story?
Bobby Cohn: Who's going to be at Waynestock?
Wayne Campbell: Um, uh...Aerosmith & Pearl Jam!
Garth Algar: Ha ha ha ha ho!
    Bobby: Who else?
    Garth: Uh, me...and...and Wayne...
    Wayne: ...and uh...VAN HALEN!!!
Garth: Wow. Van Halen. Who else?
    Bobby: Yeah, who else?
Wayne: Uh, an old man fashioning a kayak out of a log?

I could see remaking a crappy horror movie like "Them", where modern CGI would make the film better. But why would you remake a landmark film? Who's better then Gregory Peck?

I guess they've run out of shitty T.V. shows, oh wait, "Miami Vice" is coming out this Summer.

Not that 'Vice was a shitty show, at least the first three seasons anyway.

I thought this kinda fit with this thread:

And the worst movies of the year are ...
'Son of the Mask,' 'Deuce Bigalow' lead Razzie nominations

    Monday, January 30, 2006; Posted: 8:45 a.m. EST (13:45 GMT)

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Bad sequels and remakes tortured movie audiences last year, and they provided a smorgasbord for the Razzies, an Academy Awards spoof that pays heed to the worst in Hollywood.

Four of the five worst-picture nominees for the Razzies were sequels or remakes, led by "Son of the Mask," which had eight nominations Monday, including worst actor for Jamie Kennedy and supporting actor for Alan Cumming and Bob Hoskins.

The other worst-picture contenders were Rob Schneider's sequel "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo," Jenny McCarthy's raunchy romance "Dirty Love," the TV update "The Dukes of Hazzard" and the horror remake "House of Wax."

Razzies will be announced March 4, the day before the Oscars.

Tom Cruise earned three Razzie nominations, as worst actor for "War of the Worlds" and two of the five slots in a new Razzies category for most tiresome tabloid targets. Cruise was nominated there for his anti-psychiatry rant and for his very public romance with Katie Holmes.

"He had been a very private person up until this past year," said Razzies founder John Wilson. "It certainly was a bizarre turn in terms of how he handles his personal life and the access that he gave the media to himself. The endless posing on the red carpet and just smooching like they were on the couch at home."

"Son of the Mask," a flop that starred Kennedy as a new father whose son is born with the shape-shifting powers showcased in Jim Carrey's original 1994 movie, was an early Razzies favorite when it came out nearly a year ago. As Wilson was preparing for last year's Razzies ceremony, his family went to see "Son of the Mask."

"I was working on the script for last year's show, and they got home and my son stuck his head in the door and said, 'Dad, we've got one for next year,' " Wilson said.

Besides Cruise and Kennedy, worst-actor nominees were Will Ferrell for "Bewitched" and "Kicking & Screaming," The Rock for "Doom" and Schneider for "Deuce Bigalow."

McCarthy earned three nominations for "Dirty Love," for worst actress, screenplay and screen couple (she and "anyone dumb enough to befriend or date her").

Her worst-actress competitors: Jessica Alba for "Fantastic Four" and "Into the Blue," Hilary Duff for "Cheaper by the Dozen 2" and "The Perfect Man," Jennifer Lopez for "Monster-in-Law" and Tara Reid for "Alone in the Dark."

Paris Hilton received two nominations, worst supporting actress for "House of Wax" and most tiresome tabloid target. Holmes also was nominated for worst supporting actress for "Batman Begins," along with Carmen Electra for "Dirty Love" and the Simpson sisters, Jessica for "The Dukes of Hazzard" and Ashlee for "Undiscovered."

Friday the 13th Prequel Coming Oct. 13
    Source: Variety January 30, 2006

In a Variety article talking about 20th Century Fox's release strategy for The Omen remake -- it hits theaters on a Tuesday, 6.6.06 -- the trade mentions that New Line is playing the date game as well.

The studio is hoping to release its 10th film in the sturdy "Friday the 13th"" franchise on Friday, October 13. The studio has launched development of a script about Jason Voorhees' origins.

Stay tuned for more on this project as news comes in.

How can they call it a prequel? The first movie laid down the foundation of the hockey masked slasher. It has got to be another remake, or they are just going to create another back story.

Hey didn't 99 sequels destroy any creditabilty of the first two?
