Default Who Influenced Eddie Thread (Metal Sludge)

    Hey All,

Check out this thread from Metal-Sludge about who influenced Eddie. While I think Ace Frehley is completely wrong, I do think Eddie was influenced by Tommy Bolin, Al Di Meola and Jan Hammer as many suggested (among others). I can hear it easily.

    Eric Clapton

    Jimmpy Page (some)

    Alan Holdsworth (his Brand-X days)

    Leslie West

Ed also vaccuumed up stuff from a variety of guitarists and bands.

I'm a huge DiMeola fan, I've never heard an influence with Ed,nor have I heard Ed ever mention him.

I've also read that Eddie was a really big Ritchie Blackmore fan. I don't hear a lot of Blackmore in his playing, but I know he was(is?) a big fan.

    Default Under the Influence

I would have have to say Eddie is under the influence of Jack Daniels and Heineken almost everyday.

    Default Nice.

I hear a lot of Jeff Beck. Not just the harmonics and whammy stuff, but the
    loose bends and phrasing etc.

Ed has said in the past Clapton, Page, and Billy Gibbons, so there's your answer.

Everyone at Metal Sludge is a fucking know it all.

This is kind of a secret, but since people are now asking, I was Eds biggest influence. But Im cool with that. Hey, he showed interest, what could I do?
