Default How about Slack Whammy bar

Obviously my question(s) earlier have not been worthy or response.

So can (will) anyone give me some ideas on how to play a slack whammy bar?

    Thanks

I'd like to help, but I don't know what a "slack whammy bar" is.

based on your other post, I am guessing you just want to know the meaning of the term slack whammy???

in the context of everybody wants some, it is just want it sounds like.

you push your tremelo bar down so low that the strings are so slack, they just kind of hang there. Then tapping on E string will sound like a slow motor boat or something.

many effects you can produce with a whammy, but it is much easier to see than explain. as I suggested in your other post, have a look on jfrocks.com, he has taken down a lot of VH stuff, but still goes over some of Eds tricks

    yeah its pretty simple.

push down on the bar , mute the other strings , and let the low e string flap around a little by slowly lifting the bar up and down just a bit.

also if you listen to the beginning of the song where the tablature says "slack trem" you can hear eddie simply just pushing down on the bar making the strings go slack and detune with his volume knob down low.

its real feint , but listen to when the drums first start.

2 of my favorite slack bar tricks:

    1. After the solo of Romeo Delight (the softer breakdown). He reaches around/under the guitar with the left hand and pulls the bar so the strings are slack to some point. Then with a taping finger of your right hand tap the G string against the screw pole piece of the pickup (you have to tap between the screw and the bridge). You will hear what I'm talking about. You might have to adjust how slack the strings are to get the note/sound to match the CD.

    2. Baluchitherium elephant noise. Some echo/delay is key. Roll vol knob off. Strike open string harmonics on G string 5th fret, B string 7th fret, e string 12th fret with vol off. Reach around/under guitar with left hand and dive with the bar. Bring the vol knob up with your right hand as you bring the bar back up and then down a little bit at the end (I find I'm kind of muting the lower strings with the thumb of my left hand so you don't hear them).
