    Was just wondering if

    1. Ed has ever publicly spoken about his collaboration with her

    2. Why he is listed as ? on the album as the guitarist

    3. Where i can find a copy of that song?

I actually just heard this song for the first time today, I had it buried on my hardrive...It's pretty subdued for Ed, decent for a pop song but not like anything Ed was doing back then.

Thanks for the link; I was wondering as well.

He's got quite the variety in who he worked with, doesn't he?

Eddie once said that recorded for her record as a favor to Ted Templeman. Maybe that's the reason he got no credits.

Also didn't Dave have issues with people working outside the band? Like when he got pissed about Eddie playing on Beat It.

I remember reading Ed saying he played the solo on Can't Get Away From You as a favour to Ted Templeman. It's not a bad track.
The song is available on Nicolette Larson's Nicolette album. Nicolette later returned the favour to the band by singing on Van Halen's Could This Be Magic? from Women And Children First.

    Answer
    Hi Marco -

Great question. There are probably a ton more I've never heard of, but here's a partial listing of Ed's side projects:

    Autograph - "That's The Stuff"
    Black Sabbath - "Cross Purposes"
Thomas Dolby - "Astronauts & Heretics"
    Michael Jackson - "Thriller"
    Nicolette Larson - "Nicolette"
    Steve Lukather - "Lukather"
Brian May & Friends - "Starfleet Project"
David Garfield & Friends - "Tribute to Jeff"
Private Life - "Private Life" & "Shadows" (Producer)
    Rich Wyman - "Fatherless Child"
    Dweezil Zappa "That's The Stuff"

Not much rhyme or reason to this list, is there? Ed just does whatever strikes him as cool. Me, I wish he'd do an Eddie-only album, and really step out of his comfort zone. The boy needs a challenge.

    Rock On - KC

As for the above list, Ed did not appear on the Autograph album That's The Stuff Mike did. Mike sang background vocals on Blondes In Black Cars.

Ed didn't play on the Black Sabbath disc either, he merely suggested a riff to Tony Iommi which was used on Evil Eye. Ed was not given a writing credit for the song.

The Dweezil Zappa track Ed played on is incorrect too, it's actually My Mother Is A Space Cadet.

“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

For what I know and read about, Diamond Dave and the rest of the guys used to say something like "Keep it in the band", always referring to Eddie's possible work outside =VH=.
The "Beat It" thing happened, according to Eddie's words, when none of his band mates were in town - Dave was in the Amazon Jungle, Mike was in Disneyland and Alex was out of the town. Althought, the very special point on recording "Beat It" solo was that Eddie thought nobody would ever hear about it anyway. Besides, he did it for free and for the fun of it.
