    Default "I'll Wait" Solo

This is one of my favorite solos Ed does and I'm just now learning it.

Man the feel on that solo and the crispness and accuracy of the ghost bends
    kills me...

Genius. Probably took him 1 take. Takes me 100.

I believe that solo was a compiliation. Cool solo and song - Underated. But the lead was patched together.

Oh I'm sure it was. When I first started playing I *had* to learn the 5150 solo. After my ears became a bit more developed I realized something. Ever heard that through the left speaker only? Totally punched in.

I think he said in some interview that he wasn't "proud"--admitting he pieced solos together.

Makes you wonder what all the full versions of the "punched in" parts sounded like...

oh, and Solo-ed, I think it was a strat too. Definitely a single coil.

Man, I love this solo, too! One very underrated VH track. I really love the ending of this solo with that whammy bar wobble at the end. Very cool sound!

I think the reason they "patch" Eddie's solos isn't because he's not capable of playing these brilliant licks consecutively, but because in order to keep that spontaneous "falling down the stairs" feeling, you sort of have to noodle over a jam-track for about 5 minutes. Then pick the best licks.

It's easy to sound spontaneous. Think: White Lion's "Pride"
It's easy to sound rehearsed & accurate. Think: White Lion's "Big Game"

It's difficult to mix BOTH elements! Eddie & his producers really nail that sound when they let him skip & hop around the sidewalk, and then pick the best moves.
