    Phase Shifter AND Flanger?

I play guitar in a classic rock/blues/originals band and already have a Boss phase shifter on my board (which I love). I have been thinking about adding a Boss flanger to my board because I like the effects, but I am concerned that the effects are too close to the phase shifter and I may be wasting my money.

Anyone got a shifter and a flanger on their board? Are they two distinctive enough sounds that the audience will be able to distinguish/enjoy both (used at different times?)

    Thanks for your advice!

It's all about how ya use them, and yes they are two distinctive sounds. I've got an MXR Phaser and the Boss Flange. I use the Phase more than anything, but the Flange is cool for clean shit that I do.

the flanger has a more pronounced/deep sound and sweep, especially when you tweek the depth and res knobs , and add volume and distortion.

just try palm muting and chugging away on a open e chord with a distorted/cranked half stack amp. you ll defenitely hear the flanger.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the advice...I actually bought the flanger yesterday and its in the mail.

Here's the wierd part, I will be using both effects on an acoustic guitar that I play in the band (we also do original singer songwriter stuff too). I know some people think its lame to use effects on acoustic but I do it sparingly just to add some different textures.

    So I be rockin soon!
