    Default Possible Melodic Rock Rumor

Not sure if this is about David Lee and VH but I figured I would throw it up here. It was on MelodicRock today.

"Following the recent trend of co-headlining tours, could another interesting package be in the making for the US later this year?

Could an exiled frontman of a once popular American hard rock outfit be convinced it would be a great idea to re-join his band mates for a short but lucrative tour?

Could a popular American melodic rock outfit be in the midst of a line-up change, without telling some current members?"

I cannot think of any exiled frontmen for a once popular American hard rock band outside of Roth. At least not one that could command a lucrative tour.

I also figured everybody in the world knows that Roth called up Alex so there could be something else to this.

Might not be about VH at all. Maybe Andrew can explain a little better if he sees this.

Could be Axl. They were talking on Sirius yesterday that he's been very public lately, and even mentioned something that tied him to Slash.

Also, with Weiland teaming up with STP this summer, could be some sort or triple bill in the works.

Yeah, I'm sure it would take a ton of "convincing" for Dave.

Well there are two reasons why I don't think its with Axl. First is that Melodic Rock had a blurb about him and that he will release his long delayed album this year. The second is that Velvet Revolver is doing good and why would they want to mess with that and Axl? Axl owns the name G N R so they would in fact be joining his band....not the other way around.

While I doubt Dave needs convincing, who knows maybe the window is passed because of his radio show. Maybe he has a scheduled break in the summer and wants to chill out?

Like I said it could be about somebody else but what other American Hard Rock acts (without a lead singer or their orignal lead singer) are out there?

Hmmm...Journey, Styx, Ratt, Skid Row...hard to say.

    No way it's G n R.

    journey???

i find it hard to believe its van halen with roth because of roths commitment to the radio show now.recently steve perry released a journey dvd from 81 so that may have sparked something.whether your a fan of journey or not, that would be a lucrative deal.again,im just guessing.

Journey sounds like the logical group because they a "melodic" song band. I've often heard of Van Halen being referred to as a hard rock band in the past. It would be nice to see them over come their problems and kick butt again one of these days.

Will he still have a show come summer?

The "needs convincing" is the only reason i don't think its Roth, but, who knows.

Reading the quote it says a packaging of two bands. One is an American hard rock band and the other is a melodic rock band.

I am thinking that the melodic rock band is Journey because if Steve Perry comes back, Steve Aguleri would be out. Maybe Styx.

However the hard rock band is the kicker. Journey and Styx don't fall into this format. So outside of Aerosmith, VH, KISS, and GnR, who would meet the criteria to fit?

Ratt and Skid Row would be lucky to play county fairs so you can count them out of a lucrative short tour.

Melodic bands: Journey with Steve Perry, Chicago with Peter Cetera, Styx, Doobie Brothers with Michael McDonald?

Rock bands: Guns-n-Roses with Axl (his "exhile" was self imposed), Creed with Scott Stapp (too fresh to matter), Montrose and Sammy?, Van Halen with Dave or maybe even Gary?, Skid Row and Bach (who would really care)?, The Runaways with both Joan Jett and Lita Ford?

I wonder if Andrew is just throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks.

    THAT IT!
    It must be Styx!

After going to his site daily for about 6 years, I don't think I have ever seen any of those bands mentioned.

Its either bands before grunge or those who continue to carry the flame of melodic rock afterwards like Soul Sirkus.
