Default Career Dream or Aspiration That You Will Just Not Give Up

    Hey All,

I was just wondering if anyone has a career dream or aspiration that they just won't give up - be it rock star, filmmaker, actor, etc.

Have you given yourself a time frame in which you will give it up. Like, if I don't make it by 35 years old - I will finally give it up and get a regular career going. Or have you decided that you will never give it up and you would rather be poor at 80 years old - but have the knowledge that you gave it your all.

Do you get hassled by your parents, boyfriend or girfriend, husband or wife and their parents as well to get a real job, etc. But no matter what, nothing will stand in your way. I would love to hear stories if anyone wants to share.

I wanted to be a studio guitar player. I got to do it. Turns out it wasn't for me. Playing other people's songs and hustling for the next gig, which would also suck. Plus, this was the late 1980s, when guitars and other live instruments were being replaced by MIDI (computers), to the prime gigs went to the prime guys. I walked away.

So I spent the next 15 years as a hobby buyer and salesman for a toy store, which didn't suck except for the pay.

Now I'm finishing up my first book and I'm shopping it around.

You know, if I didn't have asthma I would probably joined the military. If I had a fairy godmother, I would have fly attack helicopters for the Army. Even just being a grunt would have been cool.

I still play guitar and I still have some friends in the southland.

I have always wanted to earn my Bachelors Degree. I have been attending college off and on since 1988. Yes, I know. I should be a Dr by now. Anyway, I have an Associates, but I will get my Bachelors before I retire from the Air Force. Wish me luck!

I have wanted to draw comic books since I was like 5 years old wehn my dad got me an issue of Marvel Comics Presents Spiderman. I've been doing a lot of small press comics stuff and other illustration work trying get my foot in the door to work for some of the bigger publishers. Right now I have hit a rut where I haven't had any work in a few months and it is really starting to suck.

My family and friends all support me. Took a while to convince the folks but they support me in doing this. Even this past summer my mom helped my fiance and me at a huge comic book convetion.

I probably wont ever give this up. I'm too stuborn.

City Manager. I want to be a City Manager someday. I have a bunch of ideas and quite a bit of knowledge of how to get things done. Now, I just have to wait for the opportunity. I will make good someday. I can even deal with the politics that come with a job such as this. Someday

I've been a copywriter for almost 10 years. I've been blessed to be employed full-time by several different companies, writing for everything from fishing lures to LASIK surgery.

The only thing is, I've always been working for THE MAN instead of myself. So after much thought, prayer and a near nervous breakdown from my wife, I'm taking the leap and going full-time freelance at the end of January.

    I even put up a website-- www.moneymakingcopy.com

If anyone ever needs anything written, ie ads, brochures, sales letters, radio scripts, TV scripts, web pages, etc...let me know. I'll give you the exclusive VH discount.

Thanks. I'm severely HTML challenged, but I can do something simple. Takes me quite a while, but I can do it.

There's a lot of people selling products through "sales letter" websites such as mine (and doing very well). I'm trying to tap into that market.
