if it has a floyd, then yes, but if its a standard tremolo, no way.

maybe locking tuners if you werent satisfied with tuning stability, but a locking nut would be overkill.

Yeah im with ya on that one. If you plan to put a locking nut on there, you might as well put a full floyd system on there. If your having problems keeping it in tune, take some pencil lead or some graphite and rub it between the string spaces in the nut. The only thing the locking nut does is keep the strings better in tune but it works best with a floyd. Besides, it would be quite a bit of $$$ to find a guy who would rout out the locking nut shelf on your neck.

99% of tuning problems associated with tremelos occur between the nut and the tuners. Strings get hung-up on string trees, or it could be the angle of the strings from the nut to the tuners, or you may have too much slack wrapped around the tuners themselves. A locking nut eliminates ALL of these problems I've mentioned that occur beyond the nut, but without a Floyd bridge, you would have to unlock and lock it back everytime you wanted to tune, or even tweak the tuning of your guitar. I'm guessing that would be quite a PITA.

Graphite works well with a standard trem, but also consider raising your string trees a bit, or replacing them with roller trees (or both) so the strings don't have as much resistance and don't bind up.

Routing the shelf for the nut is no biggie.
I could do it for you, but with a locking nut and no Floyd bridge, you may have regrets.

    Good Luck!

If you have tuning problems, you might want to check your string winding technique...could be that easy to fix...

    Default graph-tech

On my strat I installed the sadles and string trees from graph-tech. I also use something called Graphit-all guitar lube in the slots of the nut. I can use the bar a moderate amount and it holds tune very well.
