Default David Spade Van Halen Reference

On the Showbiz Show or whatever. David Spade was talking and this comedian(Molly Something or other)asked him something like:"What happened to the old David?"

David Spade:"He's been to the edge, and there he stood and looked down."

Molly Whatsherface:"Yeah yeah, that's from a Van Halen song."

    Nice quote!

Anytime, you can throw an appropriate VH lyric in when answering a question, you've done well.

Speaking of Van Halen references, although the Spade one was good. I prefer the one by Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" when he told his ex-girlfriend, who was wearing an old VH shirt, to "take off my Van Halen shirt before you jinx the band and they break up."
It's kind of bittersweet. It was cool to hear the reference, but it was sad that it actually happened.

Any VH reference is great to hear.

BTW - My son's first favorite movie was Joe Dirt. He knows all the songs now. He's now into Fantastic Four and Napoleon Dynomite. But he's only 4 so.........

Which made no sense in context. I mean, Hagar is way red-neck-ier. Or
    at least Joe Dirtier.

Is there such a word as red-neckier???

Joe was naming off the bands he liked b/c Dennis Miller said he thought Joe would be listening to something like Leif Garrett. The flashback they showed was Joe at reform school and they played a Bob Seger song. Dennis didn't believe that Joe listened to Seger. So they showed Dennis's version of Joe's story and he was dancing on the rr tracks to Leif Garrett. The fact that I know this is sad, in'it????

I understand why they made the joke. I was just saying that it was cool to hear the reference, but upsetting to reflect on the actual incident of them splitting up. It actually still is.

I believe it is in the Red-Neck dictionary, which you can find it reprinted almost in it's entirety, on any southern public bathroom stall door.

    ...and David Spade rocks!

....I especially liked him when he played in that band Styx!
