    Default metal singing

how does one get his voice to be on the level of bruce dickenson, geoff tate, rob halford, don dokken, ect.

Like that high up there stuff thats all over 80's metal. I think i can get up there, but my voice just sounds god awful, and i cant sustain notes for that long, anybody got any suggestions?

Lessons. Learn how to properly use your diaphragm.

I mean Geoff Tate was trained as an opera singer.

Frankly I think Don Dokken's voice sucks, but I like Dokken. Mostly because of Lynch, I can take or leave Don's rather bland singing style.

here's the best way to do it:

Hire someone who can sing like that and YOU concentrate on that axe!!

Now, in the studio, you can alter pitch and tempo and manipulate ur voice ad nauseum..but when u get on stage, ur naked...unless you got tons of cash for portable effects processors...

But instead of all that, seriously, let your guitar do the singing instead of going for singing sounds like that...part of what makes those guys great is that they have a unique quality and ability..lots tried it, only a few really succeeded..go with your gifts
