If you built model cars as a kid...

Then by all means check out this link: www.showrods.com

The site features artwork, completed model kits and original boxes the kits came in.

In the early seventies I would save my lunch money to purchase a new kit each week, this site features many of these vehicles.

Remember the orange scented one? That one was for pansies, gotta sniff the original

Hell yeah, my favorite model car was a Black Chevy Nova, I can't remember what year it was, but this is the exact box and everything!

My ultimate build was a big black Mack truck called Rubber Duck. It was from one of those trucking movies called Convoy. Definitely cooked some brain cells on that one

The Nova was probably my favorite, but I think my ULTIMATE build that took the longest time was a huge model of the General Lee car. I dont' now what the scale was, but it was about 3 or 4 times bigger than a normal size model car and it had a ton of detail and a million parts to paint.

Ah, yes... But the life expectency of each model in my house was about 2 weeks or less... Eventually what remained after general smashing or firecrackers was then covered in model glue or gas and set on fire...

When using a solder-iron, you can make cool looking bullet holes on model airplanes too!

Aw man, I still love model cars. About 10 years ago I built a 1/12 scale 34 roadster for a friend of mine. That car was beautiful. I have a closet full of 1/2 painted cars and parts.

Glad chef pointed this one out to me, as I've built a ton of models over my lifetime; everything from cars to ships to planes to, well, you get the picture. I still have a few sealed kits that I have collected over the years stored away in the kid's closet, including one of these at 1/8 scale (over 24" long).

I also have one of these hiding away as well, along with a ton of photoetched brass for the fine details.

Here's a pretty neat link that has not been updated in a while, yet features some kits available as of May of last year.

    http://www.modelcarkits.com/news.html

I ran across it trying to find an image of the old 1/8 scale Maverick funny car I had long ago. It had a motor to lift the body and weighed a ton.

Hell Boyz, I'm still at it:

This is one I built ten years ago when it first came out, as a review model for the very same Scale Auto Magazine linked above.

In fact, I think my most recent review - the Revell AG Audi R8 - rotates under the yellow "Subscriber Extras" banner.

VHR - you know that if that Trans Am is intact, it's worth at least $200, right?

Paw, if you liked that AMT Nova, Revell has just come out with a nice new '69 that you might want to check out.

Damn Bug, no glue fingerprints on the chrome or spiderwebs on the windows at all!

Nice work, man. How's about some more shots of the "Mannix-mobile" in the second photo?

Oh, what, you mean the '67 GTX?

This is something Revell first released in '94, and I went a little nuts detailing it - even so far as windshield washer lines on the cowl, and the little clips on the battery cables that you can just make out in the bottom pic. Took about a year of incremental work to get it done.

As for no glue prints, heh, don' worry bouddit - I went through hundreds of glue bombs before I finally started doing 'em like this.

Btw, that Maverick kit you described was released for a short time by Monogram. It's something like a $350 - $500 kit now - IF you can find one.
