    Default How Funny Is This?

Here are a couple of positive reviews of Van Halen III. No. Really!

What is it with me? Diver Down is supposed to be so mediocre and I love it, same with this. I really like this particular album. It was the first VH album for me to own.
I like 'Without you' the best, a driving hard-rocker with a pop-rock chorus. I also like 'One I want', with it's reggae-ish verses and rocking chorus. 'Dirty water dog' is a fun rocker with great guitar tones and 'Once' sounds like something from a Peter Gabirel album, unexpected but I like it. 'Josephina' is a complex ballad and has some great solo work. 'Primary' is what I think is a masterpiece and 'ballot or the bullet' rocks. How many say I is really melodic, as is most of these songs.
    I really like this album.

    Extremely Good, September 1, 2005
Reviewer: Tim C. (Vatican City) - See all my reviews
I have collected all of the Van Halen cd's and this is by far the best. Even in the genre of rock and roll as a whole, this might be the best rock album ever. It simply blows away work by Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, or the Rolling Stones. God himself would be hard pressed to make a better rock album.

This third and unfortunately brief formation of Van Halen combined the guitar of Van Halen with the legendary rock vocalist Gary Cherone. So what if Cherone is desperately trying to sound like Sammy Hagar. He is reinventing himself to form Extreme Van Halen. I think if Cherone stayed more true to his Extreme vocal stylings, fans would have been more receptive.

So where are they now. Eddie is bitter toward the world and will probably never make another compelling piece of music. But at least he has money. This is more than can be said for Cherone who I believe is bartending just outside of Detroit claiming to be a former member of Van Halen.

But I digress. This is best rock album ever. If you don't own it, buy it. If you don't have money, steal it. If you can't find anybody who has it to steal from, I would not be suprised.

You're lucky I'm used to your sarcasm, Squalen.

All things considered, I don't dislike III. I mean, by far the weakest VH record, but not an utter waste of plastic.

Well....I like III more than I like Thomas Dolby. And it's a better coaster than Don Johnson's Greatest Hits. So you're right, it's not a complete waste of plastic.

While that second review may be a little over the top, III isn't that bad. I find myself listening to half that album more now than anything Sammy did with the band. Including the HIGHLY OVERRATED 5150. Whatever...

I'm guessing that 2nd review is a joke. The reviewer states he lives in the Vatican City and then God couldn't make a better rock album

Gary is awesome with Extreme. He sings a lot better with Extreme than VH, mainly because of the poor production on III I think.

Ok, I like some of the tracks that are on III, too, and I would never call it a waste of plastic, but this is just wrong...
