What? You dare to question their great, brave and just leader Kim Jun Il? True liberator and protector of the peace-loving, Democratic people's Republic of North Korea.

You just need a liitle education, or specifically re-education. A few decades at a North Korean re-education facility should clear your decadant, polluted westen mind.

I once saw a show about North Korea and how they treat the orphans of those who've been sent to those so-called re-education camps and didn't return. These children are basically left to fend for themselves and it is considered taboo to even help them because to help them would acknowledge the fact that they exist, which of course would acknowledge the fact that their parents were killed in the name of political re-education. On this program, they had smuggled footage of these children scratching for scraps of food in the street while people simply ignored them. Unbelievable! This is what communism gives you, children starving in the street while seemingly well fed people pay no attention whatsoever. Now before you America haters start screaming about the homeless and hungry in this country, imagine if you will a country where it is considered a shame to even help the homeless and hungry, that's North Korea. A model of good communism for sure.

Heh... well, I know how I try my best to ignore panhandlers. I've got little sympathy for them. Perhaps that makes me a commie.

I'm not talking about panhandlers, I'm talking about children. Children who are homeless and hungry through no falt of their own. You may have been joking but I just wanted to clarify my post.

What you miss is that such things happen in most every under-developed part of the world. It used to happen here, too. When there aren't enough resources to go around, why would that surprise you? It's got little to do with communism (if you think North Korea is communist in anything other than name, you're sorry mistaken) and everything to do with human nature under a dictatorship.

If you worry so much about starving children, adopt one.

How are they not communist? Please. It's a dictatorship. Calling that bullshit doesn't change the nature of it.

People can say what they want, but North Korea is a dictatorship. Kim Jong-il runs it as such just like his father did for over four decades, albeit not as popular.

Starving children anywhere is a crime. I'm not saying that starving North Korean children are any worse off than anyone else. I was just pointing out that the problem is particularly bad in North Korea. Yes, I know it used to happen here, and probably still does. As far as adopting one, its hard enough feeding the two kids I have. I think you're wrong about communism not playing a part in the plight of these kids. The communist (or dictatorship if you want to call it that, six of one, half a dozen of another) system perpetuates the problem and pretends like it doesn't exist. By the way, the phrase is sorely mistaken, not sorry.

Communisim IS dictatorship, that's why it's always failed. That's also why it's alway forced upon people at gunpoint. Those landmines on the 38th parallel aren't there to keep the U.S. from invading, it's to keep North Koreans from fleeing south.

Communism is not dictatorship. Why do you think so? Explain to me why you think they are one in the same…I am interested in your thinking, however flawed it may be.

Dictatorships have tried and failed, yes, but true communism has never been implemented.

Axx, if you're going to strip all meaning from the terms involved then there's certainly no way in which you can be incorrect.

Communism is a word. Dictatorship is a word. They're both words, and therefore indistinguishable. I get it now. Thanks.

No, Communisim is a concept that says that soceity is equal and that the burdens of that soceity must be shared equally by the people. Financial profit is made at the expense of the working class and is wrong, all should reap the bennifits, that one person reaps more is a crime. Society's need are to be met, streets cleaned, garbage picked up and sewers cleaned, and if there is nobody to do these jobs voluntarily then workers will be compelled (for the greater good) to do these jobs. Production of goods, civil improvements, housing, agriculture and health care will be regulated by the central government. The Central Communist Party will decide the direction of the country and it's people. The people, in the interest of the greater good, can not have a direct say.

Dictatorships run the gamut from a ruling political party, tribal rule to military junta. They have much in common with Communisim in the mechanics of how the state operates against it's peopleto bennifit a select few. They oppress minorities, they jail or "dissapear" dissenters and create a level of fear throughout their populace. Unlike Communist states, Dictatorships don't operate from a political axis, only the whims of the ruler or the ruling party. Pinochet of Chile and Mussolini of Italy were two different dictators. Pinochet ran a nightmare, ultra-rightwing government, the people were silenced and only the businesses that payed kickbacks thrived. Mussolini, while spouting anti-communist rhetoric, adopted socialist management of his country's industry and infrastructure.

What they both have in common is that they attract the corrupt , criminal or lazy intellectuals. Both offer these types of people a place in power and control without actually earning it. As long as the status quo stays the same, they never have to do anything except suffle paper and look busy. Party members always have better living conditions and access to perks that the average citizen does not. Dictators are usually thugs and criminals at heart, so they tend to attract like people into their fold. Sleazy compainies either organically spring up or (like Halliburton) move in from off-shore to fleece the local populace.

North Korea is a communist country. It also happened to be controlled by a man who is cearly insane.
