In the early seventies, a group called "Bloodrock" had D.O.A. long before VH.

It was a hit on FM radio, dealing with the aftermath of a plane crash...it still gets played around Halloween time on classic rock stations because it's so damned creepy.

    BTW....THE FOO'S DOA SONG ROCKS
    DAVE vs SAMMY

People need to let this go.....it is like comparing an ex wife to your current wife...you can say how things would have be different if she were still here but she left you, so you moved on with your life.....

Same with Van Halen...would they have liked to have Roth stay, yes...but he decided to leave so they moved on.......

and the rest is history….. well until 1996……..lol

DOA IS SUNG IN THE SONG AS WELL, NOT JUST USED AS A TITLE

Yeah...that song DOES rock. It's my favorite on that album. (You know you're old when you still call them albums.)

Dave Groll is a big VH fan, maybe that's why.

Typically I'd agree with the poster, but the Foo Fighters rock. DOA is a great tune.

Quite possibly the dumbest thread this month. Definitely dumbest thread of the week.

I hate the Foo Fighters, and anything related to Nirvana.

I've always thought Dave Grohl was way more talented than Kurt Cobain. Kurt was a sloppy player and in my opinion, just an average songwriter. To me Nirvana was completely forgettable. Dave on the other hand knows how to write a hook that sticks with you. Take a listen to All My Life from the One By One album and tell me it doesn't rock. I never cared for Nirvana either. They helped to destroy most of the bands I grew up listening to and were one of the worst bands of the grunge era. To name a few, Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees and Soundgarden blew Nirvana away. I never have understood why Nevermind is considered such a great album. A couple of decent tunes in my opinion, but nothing to get excited about.

Many bands release songs with a title thats been used before.

VH did it, "Dreams" comes to mind. Fleetwood Mac had a song called "Dreams" before them.

Besides I like the Foo Fighters "D.O.A."
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth
