    Default What if it's over?

What if we have truly heard the last from Van Halen? While I was driving my car the other day I was listening to Balance and it reminded me of my experience during the concert. I had a friend draw the band on a banner to welcome Van Halen to my home town. All of my friends and I signed our names to the banner and I threw the banner on stage in the middle of the concert. Sammy found the banner and spread it out on the floor so he could read it. He then held it up for everyone to see and wore it like a cape as he finished singing the song. I was so pumped as were all of my friends. Up to that point in my life that was a huge highlight for me.

I am 39 and have been a fan since I was 13, I can still remember the first time that I heard them, WOW! I have seen them 7 times although I never had the chance to see them with David Lee Roth, but I'm okay with that. I have always been excited about anything that Van Halen has ever put out including the Cherone music and the 3 tour. All of my friends abuse me for the fanactic that I am and don't understand why I make such a big deal about them (had a Harley that I painted to look exactly like Eddies guitar, unfortunately I do not own it anymore, BIG MISTAKE!).

Last year I was lucky and got front row tickets, Eddies side, for the reunion tour. I took a friend with me who had never seen Van Halen before. I tried for years to get front row tickets and never did and he gets them his first time out! On top of that we found someone who video taped the concert and now I can see myself in the front row anytime I want. If this is the last we have heard of Van Halen, I can honestly say that I am okay with it. If it was the last time seeing them at least I finally got to see them front row.

For me it's always been about the music, not who the singer is. I can listen to the era I want when I want and know that it will always put a smile on my face! Someday we all know it will have to end.

My whole point of this is, how many of you can say that if it's truly over, you will be okay with it? Remember this, if it is at least we got 3 new songs, last years great tour, all of the memories and the most unbelievable music and videos that any band has ever released and we can listen to it any time we want!!!

I dont think we have heard the last of them. There have been no official statements or anything that says that they have broken up, but more like they are Oil and Water right now.

well, i'll grudgingly be ok with it, but i would immediately start looking forward towards Ed's next musical incarnation and projects,..then wait and sit in the perverbial dark for about 6 yrs only to be surprised when he releases best of 9 and 3 semi-new songs and tour, which i will attend and...

I'll be okay with it. I blew a huge stack of money this last tour to make sure I had the best seats/soundcheck and all of the other perks in 3 different cities knowing that I may never have the chance to see them play live ever again.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

OK, you see, Im not OK with it right now. Im pissed off and have tons of mixed feelings of anger. IF VH were to suddenly tell us that they are over and will not make music anymore, thats when Ill be OK with it. If they go on another tour in 2006, Ill be damn happy about that too. The problem I have is that you all have been around VH for so long and have so many mmories from them. Since Im a young fan, I was brought up on VH in 2000, right when all the lame rumors and everything started. The only memories I have of VH new music is from 2004. So, in some ways, no I will not be ok with it because I wouldve liked to see more new VH in my lifetime. Thats just the way I see it.

I'll be ok with it. I was under the impression that they were going to come around Ny/Nj again that fall, but they didn't. I was ready to splurge for a 3 or 5 star ticket at the Garden- oh well.

If VH is truely over, than all I can say is 'thank you'.

Thank you for giving us the greatest rock music ever created.
Thank you for getting us through tough times in our life.
Thank you for getting us pumped up before sporting events.
Thank you for giving us good times over the years.

I hope they aren't over. I think there is too much music that has not been heard. Like I said before the 2004 tour, if this is all we get from them, then all I can say is 'thank you'.

    If it's over...

I'd feel the same way that I feel now, which is disappointed that Van Halen has gone out on such a note because this is what they're going to be mostly remembered for, not the innovative and legendary guitar and vocals. I mean, already the only time you hear about Van Halen, it's a joke in some movie or TV Show.
    Could this be magic?

I'd miss the anticipation of the great music to come and the outright joy of seeing them live onstage!! But, I think they'll be back.

The problem with your theory Pert, as i see it is, Eddie is the one who can't get his shit together enough to make the music. "Ten albums worth of stuff" my ass.

It is NOT over til Eddie is dead and buried.

And even then music will be released hopefully for years to come...

Just enjoy the turkey and wait a year.
