My favorite Everybody Wants Some memory is during the Montreal 1984 boot (best VH boot ever shot). After Dave's sword dance they come out with Everybody... and the white lights go up and you can see about the first 40 rows or so of the crowd pretty clear. Ed, Mike and Dave are jumping around going crazy and they crowd is too. You can tell they're just in awe. Great song, even better boot.

Essential VH song. Shame they haven't played it live since 1984.

I understand where you're coming from, that occurred to me after I posted it. It would be strange to hear anyone but Dave sing it, but the alternative is not hearing it at all. I guess the real shame is that those guys could never get together in the last 10 years and give us the Dave reunion tour.

Amen to that! Diamond Dave did some cool acoustic versions of this tune on the Radio Rodeo unplugged warm-up gigs for the Roth/Hagar Tour '02...he would explain why the sheeplottapeepa lyric was a blues shout...

Not that I've ever listened to any, but it seem like through the Van Hagar years as an intro to Panama...you can hear a lil Everybody Wants Some vibe before Eddie starts riffin'...

At St. Louis Blues hockey games, there used to be a mildy-retarded dude that when this tune was played over the loud speaker, he would start 'jammin'...sorta looked like a bald, fat dude having a seizure...and they would film it on the jumbotron and he would get some claps for his Van Halen enthusiasm...they used to blast "Unchained," when the team hit the ice that was sho' niiiiiice nah...

EWS is fucking CLASSIC HALEN all the way. Since I've been back heeya the past little bit and lurking through a lot of Halen related threads, it just floors me how so many people actually have the fuckin' gall to rip on the tune and claim to be Halen fans. Sacrilege and shame on you!!!

EWS is a mandatory Halen ANTHEM just like Unchained, Hot for Teacher, RWTD or Panama.

If one doesn't groove to or get "sheepa latta peepah dabba looka foh a moopy" then they DESERVE to "like" melancholy rubbish as "Dreams" and shit.

I always loved the drum beat...

I agree, I can't see anyone else singing this one...it's a Dave tune- through and through...

But I think it would be a cool jammin tune.. (Provided Sam's still in the band...yea, right!) It would be a good opportunity for Sam to take a break..and play it instrumentally. Ed could do some cool fill ins, instead of lyrics...

Waza, you thinkin' bout' that, sho nuff. (My best Loons)

Awesome tune!! Classic Van Halen at it's finest. "Women And Children First" has many examples of that!
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth
