My band had a show that night so I missed Dave, but my brothers went and said it ROCKED!! He even uses "1984" as the intro to "Jump" now, which my brother said drove the place nuts!!
It's funny, because I've seen Dave about a dozen times now since 1991, and that same review could've been written 5 to 10 years ago and still been printed today
    Dave is Dave!!

Why are they taking shots at Reno in the review? Has this reviewer been to Reno lately? We have had some awesome bands come through here the past few years. I saw Velvet Revolver this year here and I'll be trying to get tickets to see NIN in a month. They were here earlier this year and sold out in 10 minutes. Jackass reviewer!!!

It is actually an unusual Dave review; the reviewer didn't like the backing band or Dave's stage persona, but thought that he brought it vocally. It is usually the other way around.

Dave is content being a nostalgia act, anybody going to see more than that will be disappointed.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I'll say this, it was nice to hear the guy give Michael Anthony some respect. I've never thought him to be the greatest Bass player on the planet, but his vocals are crucial for that classic VH sound.

Hey, I'm glad he gave Dave high marks on his vocals.

I hate to admit it, but I have to agree about Dave's wardrobe and "look".

I know it's superficial and shouldn't affect the experience, but I wish Dave would tone it down and just wear a t-shirt and jeans and maybe grow his hair a little longer.

He looked cool back in the day, but the look he has now was never "in".

I feel kinda guilty badmouthing the "Diamond One".

Guess I'll throw on the six-pack and kiss my WACF wallposter for penance.

I'm with you man....anyone who says Dave's look doesn't matter just doesn't get it. Everything matters....his look, his hair, his outfit, his voice...everything....he brought it all to the table for so many years....that's what we got hooked on.

At least the majority of the people there sounded like they had a good time, bad review or not. Who listens to the critics, anyways?

That's as good a review as we could ever expect from Roth without Van Halen in 2005.

The reviewer's only real jibes are at Dave's aged looks. Well damn... I'd like to see anyone in their 50s looking young and hip. Roth wore jeans and a t-shirt in 1993 and it looked completely out-of-place for him.

Give the guy some credit for making a half-full concert hall get to deafening volumes.

Sounds like a show I would have like to have attended.

Updated version of the review here:
    http://www.orlandosentinel.com/enter...,3621806.story

As far as I could see, he only added one line, the last one in the review, "His 90-minute show featured mostly Van Halen hits -- and he looks like your dad."
