Default And The Cradle Will Rock Intro.............

I have an MXR FLanger and I have heard guys on differnt forums swear they can duplicate the intro to this song. I have tried for 5 months now turning every knob on the flanger and trying different things to get something even CLOSE to it, but I must be an idiot

Can anyone tell me how to set the flanger to get it, if it is even possible. Thanks!

Well you need a keyboard too, since the main parts of the song are on the keys. Ed ran the keyboard into his MXR flanger and then through his Marshall.

    Technical side note:

To get that Flanger/Rocket sound you need to use both your Flanger or Phaser with your Digital Delay. It's the Delay that give the effect muscle. You should have it on the Eddie setting of one or one and a half slaps.

Eddie had an Echoplex which had a tape drive, that drive was noisy which added to the effect. Today there are tons of new digital delays that actually replicate the old echoplex along with their noise.

That's how I do it anyway, hope this helps.

Cool, thanks! Oh ,but exactly how do I set the Flanger ?

And Just out of curiosity, how is it performed on a keyboard, I mean after you have the keyboard cranked through a Marshall and the flanger, WHAT do you play on the keyboard.

Is it Chords or just some kind of accidental noise

We play this song in my VH tribute band (www.vhtributeband.com) and I set the Flanger as follows 11 - 11 - 11 - 3

I've been using this setting for all my flanger effects. I got the set-up from Brian Young when he played with the Atomic Punks.

    Good luck!
