    Default Sirius vs. XM

I understand I may be getting Sirius as a X-Mas gift from my wife.

Anyone have Sirius and can you share some feedback?

I've done some "quick" research comparing Sirius and XM and the only thing IMO that XM has over Sirius is MLB. If Sirius had MLB I wouldn't have even created this thread.

Sirius has a Rolling Stones and Springsteen channel, NFL and NHL channels etc. etc.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

Sirius also has Stern starting next month. That should be interesting.

I have actually been thinking about getting XM or Sirius as well.

My question is what to get to listen to it, I would like to have it in my car as well as home, do they make something you can use in the car and then bring it inside?

I havent decided on which service to get, having MLB would be nice.

And thats about what its worth.

Yes they do. They also are making home recievers with XM.

Sirius has more content, while XM has penetrated more vehicles by virtue being released earlier.

And yes, there are portable players for both brands.

the Stones and Springsteen channels are only temporary.

i've had Sirius for a two months now...i like it. Hair Nation, Buzzsaw, and Stones Radio are pretty much all i've listened to so far...with a little of the Stern News here and there. i don't care for baseball much so whoever had MLB wasn't an issue. got a Starmate for $50 after rebate...i'm thinking of upgrading to a DVD head unit in my Jeep, so i may get the Sirius Connect add-on box so that's hardwired into the Wrangler, and swap the Starmate in and out of the truck and the house. admittedly i've had Sirius on more in the house than in the Jeep. my commute isn't that long, but it's great to have on the two-hour drive to Toledo i've been making lately.

guess it doesn't matter now, if i really want to listen to XM, they'll be carried on DirecTV in a few days.

I can't tell you anything about Sirius really, but I have XM and can tell you what I know about that.

I have really enjoyed Opie and Anthony and Ron and Fez the last coupla months.

on the 15th of this month, the Music Choice channels on DirecTV get replaced by XM stations, so with the online stuff at work (doesn't get all the channels) I get XM everywhere. That is pretty cool.

Lastly I've heard that Sirius' portable option isn't as portable as you might like it, but I don't know the specifics. I think it has to be docked to actually get the radio and it records it to a portable hard drive. I definitely heard somebody on XM mention it, so who knows.

i think you're right about the new Sirius S50. it doesn't have the antenna in the headphones like whatever the XM portable does. but being i don't walk/jog/do stuff outside where i need an antenna on my head, it wasn't an issue.

i think a lot of XM fans are blowing that out of proportion...i see a wearable satellite receiver as having a limited market.

I'm getting Sirius next month. I can't wait for Stern. He was suspended today for promoting his move to satellite. Weird, considering he's been promoting it since his announcement to Sirius.

I boughtmy Sirius Xact player a few months ago...and I really dig it. I listen to Octane, Buzzsaw, Alt, First Wave, and Spectrum....there are allmost too many channels to listen to. I honestly wish I had more time to listen to them all.

I bought mine so I could get Stern and listen to the NFL when I'm on the road.

    I highly recommend Sirius!

From 3-13 to 10-6 and NFC South Champs.....go Saints!

I have XM in both autos. The main reason i have it is because there are NO good FM stations that come in around my area .
I know little about Sirius except that Stern is main the "buzz" these days. I would also most definately prefer to have Stern in stead of Opie-Anthony. Personally, Id rather have the NFL instead of baseball. XM has 2 NASCAR channels, They have Boatloads of news and sports channels MSNBC,ESPN CNN, ABC,FOX, C-span,Sporting News, NHL, college sports pac-10, big 10, PGA. They have every kind of music you'd ever want to hear and then some. . Extreme comedy XL is good. My wife likes "E' entertainment. They have traffic and weather for all major cities. XM has free unlimite internet access for subscribers.

The great thing satellite is the crytal clear signal across the country. I love the fact that you can just push a button and get the current song info (Song title-Artist)..oh, and 100% commercial free music

I wouldn't trade my Sirius for anything.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

I got my Sirius about a month ago. In the car, the home unit to my surround sound, and they give you a password so you have it on your computer for no extra charge. Hair Nation, Octane, Buzzsaw are my main three (all play VH) then alt. nation and hard attack I check out here and there. Stern comes soon and every NFL game.

Took a three hour each way trip to a wedding this weekend; Sirius made the trip completely better.
