"I used to play the blues alone in all the local joints," he explained. 'The only thing that I can really play on guitar to this day is the blues. I heard Doc Watson and his son playing 15 years ago, and from there I got into Leadbelly and John Lee Hooker."--DLR

I own one that my grandfather gave me that he bought when he was 14. He paid $5.00 for it. It was made in 1930 (one of the first) and is now valued at $3000.00. It is an awesome piece of history and plays sooooooooooo sweet too.

Do you need to keep it in a humidified case? A 75 year old axe like that must need some serious TLC...$3000 seems VERY low...

It is an awesome guitar tuned to standard tuning right now. I also had the action lowered by Larry Craag (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young) roadie. he also appraised it. It hangs on my wall so I can look at it every day, and pick it a little when the urge stikes me. Great heirloom!! The $3000.00 price tag is pretty acurate as the finish is not in very good condition. It has a lot of character to it, but the tone....oh my god, it screams. It is the same model that SRV is playing on the cover of In Step.

    wow.

got some pics? better yet, any chance you can record a snippit?

i have never heard a guitar of that vintage before, the tone from the wood components must be really interesting - from what i'm told wood gets better tone with age.
