Default What is the spookiest thing you've seen first hand?

I'm sure I can think of more later, but this one time, at band camp... (j/k). No, seriously, who has freaky stories that were witnessed first hand (and not necessarily while under the influence)?

I can remember being at a sleep over Halloween party. It was at a house across the street from a cemetery, and of course it was a dark and stormy night. There were 15 of us middle school girls up in the attic (of course) of this house which served as the rec room for the kids. There were windows on each side of this room, so when the lightening hit, it flashed thru the whole room. We had just come inside from having followed thru with a dare to walk thru the cemetery. Some one got the bright idea to play "Light as a feather". This is a deal where one person lies down on the floor and several people kneel around the body, putting just the first two fingers under the person. Everyone chants "Light as a feather, stiff as a board" while trying to lift this person off the floor. So this chick we picked had long blonde hair and big blue eyes that bulged. We're doing this and the storm is starting to get nuts. We had her about 2 feet off the floor when a bolt of lightening snapped just outside the window in front of us, making her face ghostly pale and her eyes even more bugged out. Her eyes flew open and she screamed, and we all freaked, dropping her and running for the stairs. It was pretty freaky at the time.

that's funny, i have the same, identical story..

..well, except for the part about all gilrs...mine was boys and girls..but when we dropped the person, we ended up using the scary scene to get the chicks to 'cuddle up' to us....

It was my sophomore year of college in Abilene, TX. We were bored one night and decided to drive out to the little town of Anson to check out a couple of spooky legends.

The first is the Anson light. Anson is a little farming community, so there is lots of dirt roads and open fields. This one dirt road runs right by a cemetary. If you park on this road, looking across the highway into a field, you will see this light that moves around. The legend is that long ago, a little boy was out playing in the snow. It was getting dark and a blizzard was building. So his mother took a lantern and went looking for him. While she was out looking, he went back to the house. The mother refused to go in until she had found her son, and so she died out in the blizzard. Now, if you go out there at night, if you call out to her in a child's voice, you will see her lantern in the field as she continues to search for her son. We really did see the light. It sways back and forth (like a lantern would) radomly rises up into the air a few feet and comes back down. It always looks like it is coming towards you, but it never gets to you. Weird. But not the scariest thing we saw that night.

There are train tracks that run through Anson and cross several of the dirt roads. Legend has it that many years ago, a school bus stalled while crossing the tracks. The driver went to get help moving the bus, leaving the kids on the bus. Naturally, a train came along and hit the bus, killing the children. Now, if you park your car on the tracks and put it in neutral, the children's spirits will come and push your car off the tracks, leaving their hand prints on the back of your car. So we tried it. We sat there awhile on the tracks with the car in neutral. Nothing happened. We finally call bullshit, and pull forward to get off the tracks. Just for kicks, we decide to get out and look for handprints. While Lindsey and I were looking for a flashlight, our other buddy, Mark, jumps out and runs to the pack of the car, quietly putting his hand prints in the dust on the top of the trunk. Lindsey and I find the flashlight and Mark's handprints are the first thing we see when we get to the back of the car. Lindsey and I freak out a little bit and Mark just start cracking up. But as we shine the flashlight lower, along the back of the trunk, Mark's laughter suddenly catches in his throat. In the dust across the back of the car are 7 or 8 little handprints, way smaller than any of us would leave. All 3 of us were We got the hell out of there so fast, we only hit the high parts of the road. We stopped at a gas station out on the highway (where there were lights and other living people) to take another look. Yep. The handprints were still there.

That's cool if the dead mom wants to float around out in some field across the highway, but those dead kids were a little too close. Spoooooky.

The spookiest thing I ever seen was the movie "The Exorcist" at age 13. It was when it first came to the Drive-in. My older brother worked at the drive-in and got me and my other brother in. My older brother had already seen it and he was F*ckin' with us the whole movie, adding his perfectly timed "boo" type of stuff.

    Scary as hell at 13

It's "spooky" because you see it happening before your very eyes. Also, we had a broom standing up angled towards magnetic north. I guess it isn't scary, but more unexplained phenomenon... I guess you'd have to be there to fully appreciate it.
