    Default Interesting Eddie Tidbit

By the way, that's the first time in my life I've ever used the word, "tidbit."

All of this is totally true.

One of my brother's clients right now is the Pathologist who diagnosed Ed's cancer. He has a ton of funny Ed stories since Ed's not only an investor in this guy's new lab, but he comes to New York almost every month to hang out with the doctor.

He was saying that Ed has a ton of US Patents. Not just for music stuff either. One day, out of nowhere, Ed tells the doc that he built and has a patent for a vacuum cleaner that can clean under tight spaces like under a fridge.

He also has every song (hardcopy) he's every recorded bar-coded so that he can just scan the bar-code on the reel of tape and it shows up on the scanner what song it is, when it was recorded, if it's been released, etc.

Apparently, there's also a piano in the doctor's waiting room just for Ed so he can play it when he comes to town, along with signed guitars everywhere.

Oh yeah, that story about the cancer being a result of years of sucking on metal picks is true. At first they couldn't figure it out. The doc even flew to Ed's place and used a radiation detector around his property to see if there were any high levels. This doctor discovered this rare kind of cancer that only happens when you have long term exposure to metal in your mouth.
(Aided by the fact that Ed likes to suck on lemons(?!), therefore increasing the amount of acid in his mouth.)

Sorry if any of this has already been posted, I just thought it was interesting.

Whenever I hear "tidbit" I think of little cheeze-it-like crackers.
That and "dibs" are two words that get no track with me.

    Cool story otherwise.

I'll believe that when I see a red, white and black striped "Franken-vac" on the shelf in Target.

I thought Ed only used metal picks around the "3" era
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

That's what I heard too, but think about how often during the 3 era he was around these metal picks. The dude probably sucked on metal almost every single day for maybe 3 years.

It's true actually. Ed saw like a dozen cancer specialists and every single one said that he did not have cancer. Cancer that is caused by tobacco is supposedly pretty easy to diagnose.

Finally Ed heard about this pathologist who specializes in diagnosing and discovering rare forms of cancer caused by unique circumstances.

Odd. I just checked the US Patent & Trademark site and searched for Van Halen as inventor and only came up with 3 results:

    PAT. NO. Title
1 6,933,429 Stringed instrument with adjustable string tension control
    2 D388,117 Guitar peghead
    3 4,656,917 Musical instrument support
