    ZZ Top

It doesn't get any bluer than,"Brown Sugar," from the first album, a toon that classic Van Halen vetted up in the club days...well....well....well...

"I used to play the blues alone in all the local joints," he explained. 'The only thing that I can really play on guitar to this day is the blues. I heard Doc Watson and his son playing 15 years ago, and from there I got into Leadbelly and John Lee Hooker."--DLR

I went to a george Thorogood and ZZ Top concert last night, and it rocked my balls off. Best one I've been to in a long while.

He wouldn't even be correct about the Destroyers. Thoroughgood jams in a big way. Seriously underrated, and nobody does drinkin' songs better.

I liked them when I was younger... But now the stuff they didn't don't
seem as impressive. I have a few songs on my playlist, but never really
play them anymore. Songs like Pearl Necklace just dont do anything
    for me now.

A lot of people may only be familiar with their Eliminator days, if so, that's a shame - go back and check out their earlier works. There's some smokin' grooves on them early discs. Billy Gibbons should definitely be at the top of most great guitarists lists. After their mid-'80s dalliance with synthesisers and such, they've returned to those roots for the most part on their most recent releases. Over 30 years together making great music - the same three guys through all kinds of changes in musical trends - why are they not in the Hall of Fame?
My thoughts exactly Billy. There's so much to say about ZZ. I pushed for them when they were up last time. I couldn't believe they didn't get in . For those who aren't familiar with their older stuff, go back and check out Fandango.....Classic! Many good tunes on that one. Love Billy's sound, especially on "Blue Jean Blues". "Nasty Dogs and Funky Kings" is another underrated jewel as well.

I highly recommend "Six Pack" ...Get the 1st 6 records

I've probably seen them live as much as any other band, simply b/c they
toured the shit outta the SE with everybody and their brother back in the
early 80s. Pearl Necklace rocks - love the outro solo. Nuthin but love.

I just got back from seeing ZZ Top live!!!!!!! It was a great show! They opened with Got Me Under Pressure. I was so happy that they played Stages too, I love that song! They rocked non-stop for about two hours, I just wished that they played longer, the band was awesome! They are incredible, what a great sound they have, especially for just 3 guys. They also played a song from their latest album called Buck Nekkid.

I recently DL-ed some stuff I had skipped over, XXX & Mesaclero.
What I've heard is kinda same-y, but Billy G has a way of bringing
a smile to even these jaded lips. Phat tone with a Ph.

Allow me an irrelevant question: How old is Billy Gibbons?
