Former SNL actor slashes own throat...

Never knew the guy lived two miles from me...
The house always looked like a "shut-in" lived there...

Ex-'SNL' player Charles Rocket a suicide

FARMINGTON, Connecticut (AP) -- Charles Rocket, a comedian and actor who appeared on "Saturday Night Live" and had roles in a variety of movies and television series, committed suicide, the state medical examiner has ruled.

Rocket, 56, whose real name was Charles Claverie, was found dead in a field near his home in Canterbury on October 7. His throat had been cut, the medical examiner said.

"An investigation determined there was no criminal aspect to this case," State Police Sgt. J. Paul Vance said Monday.

Rocket was a cast member on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" during the 1980-81 season, a tumultuous year that followed the departure of the original "Not Ready for Prime Time Players" and founding producer Lorne Michaels. Rocket gained notoriety when he was fired from "SNL" for swearing on the air.

He went on to appear in numerous TV shows, including "Moonlighting" and "Max Headroom," and provided voices for cartoon series.

His movie credits included "Earth Girls are Easy," "Dumb and Dumber" and "Dances With Wolves," according to the Internet Movie Database.

    Damn shame.

I still remember the skit where he swore - they had been doing a take off on the whole "Dallas" "Who Shot JR?" deal, where he made several cast members mad at him during the broadcast and one of them "shot" him, then at the end of the show he said something like "I've never been shot before and I'd like to know who the fuck did it!" Caught me by surprise (did he just say what I thought he said?!?) and of course, didn't have the luxury of replaying it.

Not one of the more popular members of the cast, but one I'll always remember...

I've been thinking about that myself. Slitting ones own throat just doesn't seem plausible, although I guess anything is possible. I'm sure there will be further investigation into this before it's all over.

Man there should be an investigation. How f'd up do you have to be to cut your own throat??? I think it be foul play.

    That's so sad.

Oh yeah....but it's too tough to explain. Basically people like Belushi, Farley, Radner and this sap have all been on SNL and have met untimely deaths due to either drugs, cancer or other wierd circumstances.

I wanna say Phil Hartman was the saddest of them all. He got shot BY HIS WIFE WHILE HE WAS SLEEPING. GODDAM, how evil can you be? She was just 5150 (pardon my van halen reference). Such a great actor, too. Newsradio, Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz most notably on The Simpsons, and other hilarious roles. I blame Farley and Rocket for their deaths, they killed themselves.

~~As for Phil, God rest his soul~~
"I respect that youre passionate about this but what your saying is complete idiocy..." - MF5150 on McDonald's "preying" on young kids.

"He was born a human, he's a horse's ass by proxy." - It's Mike on Eddymon.

It's called "Cocaine". There were other drugs, mostly prescription, in her system, but I would bet a fair amount of money that cocaine was the catalyst. I wasn't a huge fan of Phil Hartman's, but the whole ordeal was very sad, especially since there were kids involved.
