Even if Dave is recording with V.H again...it sure ain't going to sound like the good old days! Haven't any of you noticed that Roths voice ain't what it used to be...you could sure tell on the two tracks on Vol.1....Where are the high pitched howls...the raw swagger in his voice! Even on his last solo release....I don't know...maybe it's just me..What do you think?

I saw him LIVE last year at Darien Lake Amplitheatre NY. He sounded great!
Back when he recorded the 2 tracks for BOV1 his voice was rusty and out of shape.
It is 10 times better now!

I saw him live last year too. Voice was "Better Than Ever..." don't worry about DLR. People had better worry about Ed's hip, and Al's neck/back before they think if DLR can cut it.

I haven't heard him lately, but I'm hoping his voice is either stronger than it was on the DLR Band CD or he takes it easier, since he sounds like he's struggling to get the pitch right on all of them.

That's exactly what I'm talking about .... He seems like he is actually forcing himself to sing some sort of harmony that he can't...Just listen to the first six albums and compare his voice to now....It's almost like he forgot how to be Dave....Kinda weird!

That's a funny statement glockner.
I don't believe Dave could ever FORGET how to be DAVE. the man is a walking carnival for Godsakes! (and I mean that in a good way)
He lives eats and breathes that wild and crazy personality he's got that makes him the Diamond One.

Dave says his voice actually has gained an octave since the early days. I saw Dave a couple of times on his last tour. If you don't mind hearing songs like Little Dreamer and Ice Cream Man nailed dead on, you won't be disappointed. He hit the end of Tobacco Road perfectly. Even gave himself a "fuck yeah" at the end. It was at the Dallas show on napster. Find the longest version of it and give it a listen. And for all you people saying Sammy is a better singer, he might be if his voice is working that night. Once solo and once with the band (which resulted in the free Dallas show) I have seen him not hardly able to sing. Dave, as always, is good to go. With a couple of months of rehearsal this band will be tighter than ever.

I'm a huge Dave fan, but I can certainly admit that his voice isn't as strong as it once was. But as long as he takes care of it, I think it's more than strong enough for this reunion and beyond. And it's one thing for Eddie to push Dave to be better, but not to push him into areas that he can't handle.

First of all, it's no surprise the Best Of situation was a little uncomfortable. Dave was singing something on a moments notice and didn't have as much input on song structure. Secondly, had he had a few months to rehearse, he would have been ready.Thirdly, that whole deal had Ray-Dickhead-Danniels all over it. That man can sour grapes within minutes.Even with all the previous bullshit just mentioned, I still think Dave sounded awesome on MWM.

Dave mentioned in his book that when they went in to record the two tracks for BOV, he ahdn't been singing for a while and wanted to warm up by singing on songs with the band. Eddie had a cow and said something about not wanting to be a nostalgia band...to which many of us have wondered, what were they doing on the last tour???? I actually liked Dave's performance on those two songs.

Their voices will change with age as well--got to keep that in mind. Singers lose the ability to do things earlier on and sometimes gain the ability to do more with their voice (as what happened with Dave).
But as for it being shot--nah. For a second there I thought he blew a vocal cord or something

As far as the DLR Band disc goes , the chorus in 'Relentless' has Dave beltin' it out with more power than I've ever heard him muster.I bet his chops are bang on.

Daves voice sounds really good to me on the Best Of tracks. But I think that it sounded a lot weaker on the DLR Band album. So I am a little worried how good he will sound myself.
Anyway I am moving this topic to Opinions.
