    Default Oh Boy, George

NEW YORK - Boy George was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs and making a fake police report after calling 911 early Friday, police said.

The British singer, whose real name is George O'Dowd, claimed his home had been burglarized around 3 a.m. Friday, said Detective Kevin Czartoryski, a police spokesman.

Officers arrived at O'Dowd's Manhattan apartment and discovered a small amount of cocaine next to a computer, police said. Police were continuing to investigate.

O'Dowd was first held at a Manhattan precinct, but had been transferred and was to appear before a judge late Friday.

A former spokesman for O'Dowd's autobiographical musical "Taboo," which closed last year, said he did not know whether the singer had a spokesman or lawyer.

It is not the first time Boy George has had problems with drugs.

In 1986, the singer was convicted for heroin possession in England. Two of his friends overdosed in the incident and O'Dowd was forced into a rehabilitation program. The conviction led to the disintegration of his group, Culture Club, one year later.

Boy George, famous for his androgynous persona, and Culture Club had hits including "Karma Chameleon" and "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me."

Thought this was curious, if a bit odd.

Curious, yes. Surprising, no. Kinda doubt anything the Karma Chameleon could do would be shocking, even if he'd led a Doo-Da rainbow parade butt naked and strung out on speedballs and Cheetohs while sitting atop a chardonnay-laced Panzer tank straight into the heart of Salt Lake City.

That's kind of too bad. He's a sorry soul.

I have the best of Boy George and Culture Club cd. It's quite good. George had some good solo stuff after his career with CC. Yeah, I know...most of you will think my head's not on straight.

How do you ever come up with such descriptive, imaginative scenes? You totally see it developing as you read that sentence, kinda' like "And to Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street." (Dr. Seuss for you non-kid types).

    "Suck a fat one, faggot."
-MikeL, showing off that sharp wit of his.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."
