    Default YOU'RE Top Five albums

You're headed to a deserted island. You can only bring five cd's (and chicks and beer, but anyway). Each has to be from a different band. Has to be a studio release, no best of's or live albums. What do you take?

    Here's mine.

    1. Van Halen Van Halen
    2. Metallica Master of Puppets
    3. Pearl Jam Ten
    4. Guns 'n' Roses Appetite For Destruction
    5. Led Zeppelin IV
...AND ON THE SEVENTH DAY, GOD CREATED VAN HALEN

    VAN HALEN IS A LIFESTYLE

Guns N Roses Appetite For Destruction
    The Beatles The White Album
Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
Public Enemy Apocalypse 91:The Enemy Strikes Black

    Physical Grafitti - Led Zeppelin
    Black Album - Metallica
Sinatra's Greatest Hits - Frank Sinatra (showing my age!)
    AC/DC - Back in Black
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

    Default I hate these, but.....

    Van Halen - 5150

    Motley Crue - Dr. Feelgood

Led Zeppelin - fuck....I guess Physical Graffiti (could go to any Zepp but I'll pick the double disc )

Aerosmith - Toys In THe Attic

    Beatles - White Album

I'm sure that list would change tomorrow though

***Hey DD, no fair, you picked a Best of for Sinatra

This question is always difficult for me but here goes (it will prolly change in five minutes...):

    1984 - Van Halen

    Gretchen Goes To Nebraska - King's X

    So - Peter Gabriel

1st & Repair / Mirror - Monte Montgomery (sorry, can't have one without the other)

    Souvenir - Eric Johnson

I'm thinking that the entire "deserted island" scenario would mean that this is the only music that one would hear for quite a while.

In keeping with that thinking, would one not want a music that constantly challenged one's thinking...ie: something that sounded different or rented new things each time it was heard?

Rather than throwing my disc player into the ocean after listening to something I'd heard redundantly for years, I personally would go to a somewhat esoteric extreme, providing new insights each time played.

    1. Talking Heads "Remain In Light"
    2. The Carl Stalling Project: Music from Warner Brothers Cartoons 1936-1958
    3. John Coltrane "A Love Supreme"
    4. Miles Davis "Kind Of Blue"
    5. The Vince Guaraldi Trio "Cast Your Fate To The Wind-Jazz Impressions of Black Orpheus"

or The Vince Guaraldi Trio "A Charlie Brown Christmas".

    And I'm dead serious.

I can attest to the fact that Chef & I have compared warner bros cartoon albums and had a great listenting party. It's only to funny watching grwon men drinking beer and jammin to Bugs and Elmer. I have to also agree with the Guaraldi "Charlie Brown Xmas."

I do...Actually, I'm kind of a Landreth geek. I've met him...totally cool dude. I even have a letter from him where we talked about guitar and the Tiki Bar tour with John Hiatt...

I had tix to his San Francisco show two weeks ago, but he couldn't get out of Louisiana...
