Default Indiana Jones 4 - News **HAS SPOILERS***

First Indiana Jones 4 Cast Member?
Source: The Indy Experience October 3, 2005

The Indy Experience has confirmed a press release which states that model Laura Dutta has landed a small role in Indiana Jones 4:

It is official! Model Laura Dutta represented by ASH Models has landed a role in Indiana Jones 4. The movie is the 4th sequel in the Indiana Jones franchise and will cast Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. Indiana Jones 4 is to be directed by Steven Spielberg.

Though Miss Dutta has a three month shooting schedule, her agents from ASH Models has confirmed that she will fly to Paris during shooting to do Fashion Week.

What roll she will be playing is unknown.

    The Indy Experience added:

Since we first reported this, we have contacted Dutta's agent who has confirmed that this report is indeed true. He stated that Laura Dutta will indeed be in Indiana Jones 4. Her part will be small but it is a speaking role. Dutta's agent did state that contracts have been signed. As of now it is a done deal, with just the required legal mumbo-jumbo left. Dutta is new to acting, but the casting department liked what they saw. Dutta's agent also stated that casting for Indy 4 has been going on for some time, but for just how long we don't know.

They should call it 'Indiana Jones And The Female Co-Star Half His Age'.

If there is to be another Indy instalment, then I'm glad Mr Spielberg is taking the directing role again for it. Preferably, I wish they would just leave it with 'The Last Crusade' since that was made a good 15 years ago and it's hard to top The Holy Grail as far adventures for prized artifacts go. I hope they're not making this one purely for churning up a means for past profits and for Ford to rivatilise his career like Francis Ford Coppola did for 'The Godfather Part III'. Would be a tremendous shame if they didn't pull it off and tarnish a fantastic trilogy. The Indiana Jones saga just happens to be my favourite movies of all time.

Is Lucas still on for writing this next one?

Jeff Nathanson & Lucas wrote the script.

There isn't really much info out there yet, but I bet that changes now that they are casting parts for it.

I read a rumor way back when that whenever Harrison Ford decides to stop playing Indy they'll cast a youger Indiana Jones and explore some of Indy's early adventures......who knows!

Jeff Nathanson To Rewrite 'Indiana Jones 4'
    [Wednesday, October 27th, 2004]
'Rush Hour' scribe Jeff Nathanson has signed on rewrite George Lucas and Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones 4, according to Variety.

Frank Darabont had previously written a script for the project in February, but Lucas, Spielberg and Ford hadn't given it a unanimous thumbs-up. Paramount Pictures then called off a planned summer production start.

Due to the set back, Spielberg moved on to make War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise, while George Lucas worked on finishing his Star Wars trilogy with Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Ford is now working with Paul Bettany on The Wrong Element.

Nathanson has previously worked with Spielberg on projects including Catch Me If You Can and The Terminal.

They did sort've do that during the early to mid-90s with TV made films, obviously not with River Phoenix. There were stories of young Indy fighting in the trenches during WWI that I recall and there were some of the older Indy played by Ford.

Yep, they did have the "Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" or something like that. It went back and forth between a little kid Indy and a teenage Indy. I don't think it lasted very long.

If Spielberg & Lucas do want to continue Indy at the movies, I'd love to see the series take the James Bond kind of route. A new Indy could be cast and then several films made.....as long as the stories were interesting!!!!

    That's it, now I remember.

I wouldn't be too keen on if they did decide to take the James Bond route, I'm sure they would at some point run out of ideas of what to go after. There's only one Indy for me and that's Harrison Ford. A new actor to play the role for me, at least, wouldn't settle well. Just like the James Bond movies, they just got worse and worse.

On another note, it would've been interesting to see what would've happened had Tom Selleck originally taken the role.

Yeah, Harrison Ford will allways be the original Indiana Jones. whoever would follow him would definitely be steopping into some big shoes!

I watched the first episode of "Magnum PI" a few days ago and thought about the same thing......

You KNOW there is going to be a "I'm getting too old for this" joke in the movie somewhere.....
