Got a little too political. Thought American Idiot was a great record but can do without the politics most of the time.

Green Day kicks. I love the energy of their drummer, Tré Cool. He knows his chops pretty well.

And no love for The Offspring or Bush? They are fine, IMHO. I saw The Offspring once and they put a great show, hands down.

Green Day kick ass live. I’ve seen ‘em a lot. They’re probably the only Gen Y band I appreciate. Few frontmen command their audience like Billie Joe. It’s startling actually.

The band themselves are GenX, but their primary fanbase is largely Gen Y.

Gotcha. No doubt, they have managed to continue to build their fan base and stay relevant.

Not a fan of the Dookie slingers...
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

Oh yes. They tour regularly. They drop albums every two years. They play stadiums, they play clubs. They're active on social media, and they're super fan friendly. I met Mike once at a BBQ in Ojai. Very nice guy, was dealing with his wife's cancer at the time. Billie's side project The Longshot is pretty good, too, saw them twice last summer at classic podunk bars in Eagle Rock and Santa Ana. I think their last album, Revolution Radio, is probably my favorite. They've managed to keep making solid tunes throughout their career, with a few misfires here and there, but overall, they are a monster power trio with a massive global following. One of the few, maybe the only one, that managed to make pop punk actually work on a wide scale.

American Idiot is one of the most iconic albums of the 1990s. I loved every song and topic.

Green Day live is one of my favorite live music experiences and I agree with your take on Billie Joe.

It was released in late 2004. Love the album, but agree with Mike. I prefer my music free of politics.

Caught the tail end of this the other night on cable. Last 30 or so. He's actually a pretty good actor. Playing himself, sorta. Guess I need to check out the whole flick. Anyone else?
