    Default London Vacation

Alright, my tentative plans to visit Europe (the UK, Am Dam, whatever else
I can squeeze in 9 days) look like they're coming to fruition. I know, crazy
to go in November (!) but, what I'm looking for is suggestions on where to
go & what to do, experiences, tips, warnings, etc.
Looks like I can get a flight to London for under $600 US, but I'm reluctant to
book any hotels as I plan on moving around. How easy is it to get to &
stay in places like Dublin, Prague, etc.?

Holy Snickies that's a lot in 9 days. I love London! Am Dam, Dub well Southern Ireland period.

You have to go to the Guiness Brewery if you go to Dub! The tour is ok, not like it was in years gone by, but the top is outstanding! Drink pints for free!!!!!

My hub racks up HI points here in the US and we stayed in some in London and Dub and the ones we stayed in were really quite nice. They weren't 5 star hotels but they were clean, well taken care, in good safe locations, in walking distance in Dub of downtown and in London in a good area with some resturants and pubs AND a tube station! Both staffs were very nice and helpful. The one in London had full breakfast everyday that came with the room. I'll ask my husband if he remembers their names ok.

Ok I just ask my husband. He doesn't remember the area in Dub ok, But we stayed at a HI near the tube station in Kensington in London the first time we went. The second time we went we stayed at a hotel across the street from Victoria Station. It was owned by a Spanish Co he said.

Now in Amsterdam we stayed at:

    Crowne Plaza Amsterdam City Centre
    Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 5
    1012 RC Amsterdam
    www.amsterdam-citycentre.crowneplaza.com

What a GREAT location. I'm sure Leo VH can tell you this. A stroll from everywhere. Can be tad pricey though I believe. Once again, my hubby travels for his work all the time and gets all these points and we get to comp some of our rooms and we only had to pay part of our stay there. Sorry wish I could give you a price per night. But get ahold of them and if you can swing one night in this place I highly recommend it!

Hi, well I can tell you for London and Dublin there are lots of reasonable hotels to choose from in both cities. November time is good as there will be vacancies almost everywhere.

My brother lives in London and my sister in Dublin so both are places we love. So much to see and do in London.. First, the Tower.. I love it, lots of Cathedrals, Parliament and Big Ben. Typical english pubs and great restaurants. The London Dungeons, Madam Toussauds Waxworks, Museums galore! Great night life!

Dublin is the friendliest capital city in the world. (I was their for the city's millenium.. the hangover lasted for days!!) Wonderful people and a beautiful place. The breweries, Halfpenny Bridge, O'Connell Street.. great shopping also. Call in one of the local pubs for a real Guinness.. which takes about 5 minutes to pour!!! Great food too.

London and Dublin work the same as cities all over the world. Remember there are good parts and not so good parts. Take all the usual precautions and you'll have a great time.

Here are few sites to check out. Hope you find them helpful.

SEA I loved the Tower of London. Silly as hell I know but touring that place was spooky at times. It was like you could just feel the ghosts of the people that died there watching you. And the Crown Jewels are breath taking aren't they.

I need to get to England and Ireland to check it out and do some drinking. Maybe someday......

You'll never regret it Zeo. Make it to Liverpool if you do. I spent a day and a half getting in as many Beatles sites as I could.

Honey sisca, they've done some lousey things, but I spent one wonderful night in Paris. And that tower is breath taking at night. Don't take it out on a thing of beauty ok.

Now get your gun and go find those assholes and put them on hooks ok.

They sure don't let you dwell around those jewels do they? Stay on that moving walk way! I sure wouldn't want to be the one to find out what they would do to you if you stepped off of it.

We had a half a day there and it wasn't near enough. But we only had a day and a half in London. I know I can't spell forgive my bad here but Westminster Abbey (sp) and toured it, it was beautiful also. Big Ben, that whole area. Oh, crap, the castle Di lived in we went there and toured it also. aarrrggghhhhh the name escapes me at the moment. The Royal Mewes. We hit the ground running both times. LOL What is the name of that ship or sub (?)not far from the Tower of London by the bridge that everyone confuses for the London Bridge. You know what I'm talking about? We toured it also. HMR ?? dang...

We've been to London twice now. Both only day and half trips mixed in with other trips. I'd love to go for much longer.
