I kinda consider it an unoffcial prequel to Fast Times. And like you, I remember those those times (as little as I was). I remember the looks and sounds of that decade. Fun and funny as hell.

    Get the Soul Pole Out!!

I think they're both great movies.

I can relate more to Dazed & Confused since it's when I was growin up. I wasn't around in the 50's (needless to say).

Glad to see a thread about this one. Great movie!! Great soundtracks as well. The cars are great too!!

Everything's great with me today, as you can see.

Dazed and Confused is just a great movie, it's an honest look at small-town American teens in the late 1970s. They got so much right it's freaky. Plus I watched it several times before I realized Ben Afleck was in it.

America Graffiti is just a great movie because it's George Lucas back when he could write a script. I knew a guy who "John Milner" was based on, he said it was almost exactly like that in Modesto, CA, back in the day.

"Fast Times At Ridgemont High" is a great movie, a classic. It's different than the other two because it was a contemporary movie at the time. Nothing was recreated, it was great because it was honest. My friends and I saw it mulitple times and we "knew" everybody in the movie. It's a good movie that also doubles as a time capsule.

Absolutely my thought on this. Too many people lump Fast Times with Dazed. Fast Times was of it's time, Dazed had to recreate the look in it's timeline. Albiet the do an excellent job of it, but it can never be 100% accurate like Fast Times.

Both good movies, but Fast Times was of course about 1982 and made in 1982, so it's not really a period piece like Dazed and Confused. Of course I was a teenager in the mid-late 80's (as I would guess a lot of us here were), so they need to do a period movie about that.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

Hey, we were lucky. Not only did we get "Fast Times", we got "Sixteen Candles", "Weird Science" and "The Breakfast Club". Those are all time-capsule movies, there weren't many in the 1970s that showed it like it was in a social context like those movies did.

Dazed, Fast Times and American Graffiti are all great movies, I cant say one is better than the other just ebcause they are all about different time periods.

My personal FAV would be Dazed, I was just a grade schooler on '76' but remember it pretty well, the movie reminds me of my older sister and her friends. The muscle cars, the music, the clothes etc etc Great movie!!

One of my all time favorite movies. I actually just got Fast Times (digitally remastered) and Dazed together in an Ultimate Party DVD set.
