Funny VH radio "drop" the other night...

I was listening to the local classic rock station here the other night and they had a funny Van Halen "drop" between songs. It said, "The three faces of Van Halen...David Lee Roth: (played a snippet of Runnin' with the devil) Sammy Hagar: (played a snippet of Right Now) Gary Cherone: (played the sound of crickets chirping)"

They then proceeded to play UNCHAINED!

    I thought it was funny...

I'm not beating up on Gary. I bought VH3 and liked most of it, should've dropped "Once" and "Josephina". I actually liked "How many say I?" I must be fucked up, but it just wasn't Van Halen to most people. I don't think the average fan even remembers VH3...

I see your point. Im not saying you are, im talkin about the station. But still, you aint fucked up, i think HMSI is a pretty damn good tune. But when i was a younger, inexperienced fan, i thought BOV1 was their last album (this was before TBOBW last year). Now, im a huge VH3 fan (especially of the tour!!). I wish more fans wouldnt say 'Its Gary Cherone, not sam or dave, so it sucks'. I bet half those people have never listened to VH3 in their lives, and just go by what people say, much like the radio drop.

Well I am sure the jock was making a good humorous point--not as a slam on Gary, but just about what everybody who gives a ratz azz thinks when they think of Van Halen. Cherone's a great singer & frontman for Extreme, just didn't click with VH. I own "3", actually enjoy giving it a spin once in a while, but it sure isn't the other 2 incarnates of the band. It is too bad WB didn't give the line-up one more shot, IF they are the fall guys into his demise. An actual producer and engineer may have made it more all-around viable. And may have prevented "H.M.S.I."
But even if I was a "Brigade'r", I'd still get a LOL out of it

I was hoping for way better stuff when 3 came out.
Some of Extreme's stuff is better than average, they were never great though.
Always thought Warhead's was a good rocker and was probably expecting tracks in a similar vein on 3.

That drop between the songs is pretty funny.

    LMAO!!!

Unfortunately, Gary will ALWAYS get the heat for VH3. He did what he could on it. Just bad, bad timing for the whole "Eddie Van Halen Project."

Gary is one hell of a stand up guy. What has he ever said publicly that was negative about VH or any of it members, including Roth and Hagar. After watching and hearing boots of the 3 tour I sure as hell wish I went, because he did an awesome job on the old tunes. THAT BEING SAID:

Listen to He-Man Woman Hater off of Extreme's Pornograffiti for some serious guitar wailing!!
