Default mxr 6 band eq + fulltone fat boost

    = pure happiness.

i threw the 6 band eq in the loop to boost the mids and quiet some of the treble in my 5150, and the fulltone fat boost just fattens up the sound. Im getting the best tone ive ever heard out of my 5150.

    just thought id share.

Awesome dude. I got the MXR 10 band eq in the loop of my 5150 II and I couldn't be happier. The Sonic Maximizer helps too.

I'll have to try an MXR eq in the loop of my 5150. Which one would you guys recommend, the 6 or 10 band? The 5150 seems to respond really well to eq. I use the eq from my Pod xt in the loop right now, and it works very well. Throw in just a touch of reverb and some delay or chorus from time to time, and I'm a very happy camper.

I can attest to this, I have the same blue 6-band MXR and it sounds great when you boost the mids and take the highs out a little. Much browner sound. And DEFINITELY the BBE Sonic Maximizer, I can't imagine playing without that little thing. I have the old 262 model, which is not a rackmount. So it's nice and small, works great.

Yeah I just went back to playing through my amp, I had been using my Pod XT and just using the 5150 as a big power amp. But I decided to just to back to my old amp with the MXR in there and the BBE, and have been very happy. The Pod is very cool for home use and even for recording, but using it in a band situation, it just doesn't have quite the balls.

I was doing the same thing Brett by using my V-amp pro in my effects loop. Sounded great at low volumes, but when I cranked the amp it sounded sterile. It lacked all the character and punch that's packed inside the 5150. After trying a shit load of pedals for a few months I've finally found my sound. The last piece of the puzzle was the MXR Kerry King 10 band eq, which totally fattens up my tone. I actually sound like I can play now!

The BBE Sonic Maximizer is just the shit. It's so subtle, yet when you remove it you can totally notice that it's gone.

I've read the same core circuitry that works magic for BBE's rackmounts actually *is* included in that pedal they released a year or so ago.

I had that one wrong....I was sure the pedal was "simulating" the rackmount versions via a series of EQs, but that actually isn't the case. I guess the pedal works quite well.

That's what I've heard too. I've got the 362 rackmount version and love it to death, but did debate on getting the pedal.
