Nice tip of the hat to Cornell form the Hall.
Ann & Jerry do an excellent job here.

Need? No. But never underestimate the ego of rockstar, especially a front man.

The Dire Straits thing is sad.

This band was huge when i was watching MTV in the 80's, yet they could not find
    anyone to induct them?

Christ, Sting would have been a really perfect choice & connection.

Knopfler was an amazing guitarist, lyricist & songwriter.
    Incredibly talented musician.

This guy was creating & writing about beautiful & damaged characters,
while Bon Jovi was recycling the same "Tommy & Gina" theme, everyone from
Springsteen to Mellencamp to even Rod Stewart, had already beaten into the ground.

    It's just kinda sad.

Im now thinking that something had to have been fucked with Jon's in-ears or something. There's no way there wouldn't have been more discussion in the music press about this if thats just the way he sings now. Could it?

Because for somebody who has sung Livin on a Prayer every night for the past 35 years to not even come close to being in-key for any section of the performance, is rather mind blowing. The drunk, fat, fake garlic aioli-stained t-shirt wearing guy at the local karaoke gastro-pub would have hit more notes than Jon did in this performance.

I mean forget Dave. His voice is shit but it's mainly because of his note/pitch selections. If he stuck to his lower register he'd at least sound a few stops from good, I gather.

This is literally in Meat Loaf territory. Where not a single word is in tune. Like "If I paid money to see this, I'd be pissed" territory. Like "If I wasn't at my stupid nephew who has all hot friend's birthday Id make a scene" territory.

Could he have been under the impression that the song was going to be played in a different key and instead of...I dunno...listening to his band, he just kept singing in the key that he thought it was in....Possible?

Definately possible... I wouldn't rule it out. As a player, like you and others on here, I'm sure we could all tell some gear related horror stories. Bands at that top tier level still sometimes have the same issues at times.

Possibly a combination of that, and also the age and wear & tear on the vocal cords over the years. IMO.

And to me, the band is not the same without Richie.

Sambora sounded good, Jon was the weak link.

I think if it was technical or monitor issues, Jon would have made a statement
    and apologized for that performance.

But he simply cannot sing anymore.

He was so far off key, it was like he was hearing another band.

It's amazing to me that guys like Rob Halford & Biff Byford from Saxon, have retained their
    original voices.

Biff still sounds so good, despite being so fucking old.

I'll have to take everyone's word for it. I can't tell if Jovi sounds bad cuz the sound of the vids is horrible.
