Default Goin' on a Road Trip...

I'm heading out on a five or six day road trip starting tomorrow morning. My friend and I are leaving Olympia, WA and heading south to Oregon.

Our first stop is a Mopar wrecking yard where my buddy, BC will be looking for a project car.

    Wildcat Motors

Then we'll head to Maryhill State Park in Washington to a Stonehenge monument.

We will be hitting Full Sail Brewery and also Deschutes Brewery tomorrow.

One of the places we will probably go is the Oregon Vortex. Read about it here:

    Oregon Vortex

Anyways, does anyone know of anywhere cool and trippy to go in the WA, OR, northern Cali, Idaho, Montana areas?

If you do, let me know.

Also, there will be lots of pics, I'll pick the best ones and post them when we get back...

fast98, knowing your impeccable taste, I definitely recommend that you hit Humboldt, CA
    "Suck a fat one, faggot."
-MikeL, showing off that sharp wit of his.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

"You know what's weird to me is Christians who are against the death penalty. After all, if it weren't for the death penalty, we wouldn't celebrate Easter!"

That idea briefly crossed my mind the other day, but then I smoked the idea away!

Depends on how far 'south' or 'east' you're aiming in Northern Cali, but...

    The caverns at Lake Shasta/Lassen

Vikingsholm at Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe

Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz (similar to the Oregon Vortex) http://www.mysteryspot.com

Winchester Mystery House in San Jose http://www.winchestermysteryhouse.com

Sierra Nevada brewery in Chico (the original) http://www.sierranevada.com

Crescent City is the gateway to a number of bitchin' redwood state parks, including Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, and Redwood National Park. DO NOT MISS at least one of these, if you're in the area. You'll be a changed man, if you haven't gone already.

LOL! Aw, it's not that bad. It's a San Jose time killer, that's all. But agreed, it's overrated and not so mysterious.

If one was really looking for trippy hidden northern Cal enclaves, one might try and find the infamous Bohemian Grove, the white man's world leader think tank camp. REALLY adventurous and possibly suicidal types might try to penetrate its well guarded boundaries within the redwoods and hobknob with the elite power brokers of the United States as they offer sacrifices to the owl gods.

That Oregon Vortex truly is a trip. I should have chimed in yesterday but the bee's there this time of year are fucking horrible. You will be very lucky if you're not stung and they may have you sign something before you go on the tour.

Mt. St. Helens would be a good stop. Deschuttes Brewery will be a good time for ya. Tip back a Black Butte Porter for me. While you're in Bend, go south on 97 towards LaPine and check out the Lava Lands. You'll see the signs. You'll find new friends for life with the chipmunks if you bring Doritoes. If you had the time, you could do a couple hour white water trip on the Deschutes. You could also do that on the Rogue River out of Grants pass (which is where you would want to go west to cut over to the coast if you want to see the redwoods).

    I'd go like this:

    1. St. Helens (after your washington stops)
    2. Cut over from Portland and take 84 out east to cut over at Mt. Hood to go south to Bend.
    3. Brewery, Lavaland, Deschuttes
    4. Go south to Crater Lake and check that out!
    5. Cut over to I-5 again and hit your vortex
    6. Cut over from Grants Pass to the coast and take 101 down to the redwoods. Come back the same way and zip up I-5 for the homeward trip (way faster).

Let us know how it goes.
