Default Van Halen related TV appearences

Although there hasn’t been a ton of them, just wondering which TV appearances stand out as your favorites or not so favorite? Whether it is solo Ed on Letterman, Dave at the Boston Pops, or Sam on Live At The Hard Rock, any and all Van Halen related shows. For myself it would have to be a tie between Van Halen on Jon Stewart and Ed’s jam on Saturday Night Live.

I can tell you which one was NOT my favorite, Dave doing "She's My Machine" live at a Hard Rock Cafe during a break between programs on Fox. You could tell he was just goin' through the motions at that point.

"Dinner at the Van Halen's" on SNL. Although Edward didn't play a note, that was some funny stuff. Does anyone remember what year that was?

Great skit! That was actually wayyyy wayyyy back and aired February 28, 1987!

Eddie on Letterman in 1985, when he sat in with the band. Great seeing him do Pretty Woman before a commercial, and Panama with The World's Most Dangerous Band.

    Default EVH On TV

Eddie was on Valerie's sitcom, "Cafe Americain" sometime around 1994 I believe. He played a street musician bum who was playing acoustic guitar in the cafe that her character worked in. Ed was playing with his back to the camera and then turned around and stopped playing when she started to kick him out. It was actually a pretty cool scene even though the series pretty much was awful. He was playing some stuff he'd obviously written, and the end part where he stopped sounded slightly like end of the clean portion of "Pleasure Dome". I still have it on video somewhere. The positive chemistry between them at that time was obvious. She pulled him by his ear out of the cafe, then the scene ended and the opening credits rolled. Does anyone else remember this?
Most common question I was asked at TLW3 - "Now, who are you again?"

I vaguely remember it. Didn't she say something about musicians?

i remember that episode , but it looked like she was holding back her laughter as she threw eddie out. the 85 letterman show was the best.as for the snl show, i hated dana carvey as the british roadie on the dinner skit. jammin at 8h was great . i think during the one day at a time era . you could see the wacf poster in one of the bedrooms and every once in a while you could see valerie wearing her vh necklace. to bad vh never appeared on the muppet show , ed jamming with animal , that would be outta hand........... :

Here's a VH TV performance that probably very few know about. It aired around 1978-79.

It was on Don Kirshner's rock Concert (long before MTV). It was the first time (that I know of) that all america got to see Eddie Freakin' Van Halen. We got a taste of what he was doing on the fretboard. It was live at some place in CA., I believe. I remember a bunch of screaming fans crowding the stage.

Man, I'd love to see that again...
