    Default Live "Unchained Video"

There is no way after watching the "Unchained" video
@ mtv.com witch is a little diifrent from the reg video
that we see from time after time..the begin of video
and end when they come out to the
front of stage (the band) that anyone can tell me that
VH or "gower productions" or who ever was
involved DID NOT record this entire show!..there is a
camera all the way in the back of the arena recording
there is a 3 diff camera angles in front of the stage..
I just find it hard to belive that VH or who ever would set
up all these cameras and production that night just to
say we are only going to record three songs..
I just dont buy it...Someone has to have a copy
    of this entire show?

I know this has been disscussed a bunch of times I felt
I had to add my two cents in again on the theory
    of these concerts in 81.

I pray that your right. I also believe that a pro shot 1984 from Largo, MD exists. I have the Largo 82 boot shot by Warner Bros. and in the VH Encylopedia it says Warner shot the 84 Largo as well. If we could get are hands on a full 81 and full 84 show (arguably their two best tours) I'd wear those dvds out in the first week.

    Let's find them.

    Breaking News

Steven Speilberg just announced the new title for the next Indy movie. "Indiana Jones and the Oakland 81 Concert." Instead of battling Nazis, Indy will do battle against "Redheads" in a race to find the lost footage, that they want to destroy.

Im pretty sure those were the only songs shot. They wanted to use them for videos for MTV. All 3 songs are off Fair Warning. If another song from another album was floating around I'd think differently.

Although someone involved with the band's management from that time insists that he owns the Oakland '81 master and has it locked away in a safe, Mikey has stated in two different interviews over the years that they only shot the three full songs and a few clips (the lighted logo, Dave jumping around, etc.) to dub in. I guess it's possible that someone has the whole show on a tape, but Mikey says it ain't so.

It's been talked about before, and I'd tend to agree...our best hope for mint quality VH video from that era is a master from one of these:

    1) Largo, MD 1982
    2) Either of the South America concerts 1983 (almost certainly these were shown on television)
    3) Largo, MD 1984 (if it exists)

If someone is sitting on these for who knows what reason, I wish Ed and Al would consider doing that boxed set and including some of the footage.

    Somebody said Fair Warning!!!

Well if memory (or senility) serves me correctly, I believe seeing cameras throughout the whole show in Oakland, CA during the FW tour. They also sold the tour books and I scored one of those along with a shirt.

But I saw cameras all over the place recording.

Ha! Even for a movie that would be too far-fetched. As if Indy or anyone else would stand a chance of tracking down that footage.

Speaking of coveted video goodies, I'm kinda surprised Dave hasn't released a DVD of his solo videos. Or better yet, a pro-shot Eat 'Em show. I'd buy both!

Yep, we get a thread like this twice a year. I call them "The Oakland-'81 Conspiracy" threads. They were for Don Kirschner's Rock Concert (NBC), they only shot three.

The thing is that there are a bunch of shows that were recorded and taped from the beginning and are in the prossession of Van Halen. Dave, Alex and Eddie have all said in different interviews that these shows exist, they all argeed that the shows weren't up to the band's standards.

If the fans hope to ever hear or see them then the fans of Van Halen must get organized and figure out some way get Ed and Alex's AND Dave's attention. Then make them realize that we want them, no matter how bad they might be. Not a petition either, something that get's their attention and the medias attention, that will get Warners interested and then we'll get our Dave-era live album.

There are some shitty bands out there who have amazing fans that can get their fave band to give them what they want. Why not Van Halen fans. Unless you like coming in well behind the KISS Army...(KISS has yet ANOTHER live DVD coming out because nerds like me kept on their ass to put one out).
