    G3'05

Epic Records has announced an October 25th release date for Live in Tokyo, a DVD and double-disc CD featuring guitar legends Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Dream Theater’s John Petrucci. These electrifying live performances were recorded on May 8th at the Tokyo Forum, when critically acclaimed guitarist Satriani brought his popular G3 tour to Japan for a series of sold-out dates.

The track listing for Live In Tokyo is as follows:

John Petrucci: “Glasgow Kiss,” “Damage Control”
Steve Vai: “The Audience Is Listening,” “Building The Church,” “K'm-Pee-Du-Wee”
Joe Satriani: “Up In Flames,” “Searching,” “War”
The G3 Jam: “Foxey Lady,” “La Grange,” “Smoke On The Water”

I wish they would show more songs from each artist...but I'll take anything from these cats.
    Just go for it!

Yea I saw him back in April or late March. The intro was fun as hell. He had an EVH Judgment Day vibe going on. Very fun to watch.

    News from Vai's website:
We are pleased to announce the October 25th theatrical release and digital cinema world premier of the G3 “Live In Tokyo” concert DVD! These electrifying live performances were recorded on May 8th at the Tokyo Forum, when Satriani brought his popular G3 tour to Japan for a series of sold-out dates. Fans attending the packed-house shows were treated to individual sets by each six-stringer, followed by an evening-ending all-star jam session.

These movie theatre screenings will mark a release event for the concert DVD, which will arrive in retail stores the same day. The DVD will be available for purchase at each cinema screening the film. “Live In Tokyo” will be presented in theatres in high definition and employ Dolby 5.1 Digital Surround Sound to enhance the audience experience.

“We are delighted to work directly with Epic Records and our theatre partners to deliver the G3 concert and create an Event for the DVD’s release.” said Michael J. St. Clair, President of Pillar Entertainment. “With the technically proficient nature of these guitarists, it makes perfect sense to have their material presented in cinema grade high definition with a 5.1 theatrical mix created especially for this event.”

Following is a list of cinemas screening this special event. All shows begin at 8:00pm Eastern/Central/Pacific. Admission is $12:

New York: Brooklyn Pavilion - Brooklyn
New York: Farmingdale Multiplex - Long Island
Los Angeles: Universal City Walk Cinemas - City Walk
    Chicago: Loews 600 N. Michigan - Chicago
Boston: Loews Boston Common - Boston
San Francisco: Loews Sony Metreon - San Francisco
Washington, DC: Loews Cineplex Rio 18 - Gaithersburg, MD
Detroit: Emagine Canton - Canton, MI
Seattle: Galaxy 12 - Monroe, WA
San Diego: Poway Creekside 10 - Poway, CA
    Just go for it!

I just picked up the Live In Tokyo DVD today and it kicks ass. Three of my top five favorite guitarists, wish I could have seen it in person. It was good to see some different songs from Satch and Vai. The jam is probably the highlight of the DVD.

I got it last week it is cool. My favorite track on it is Vai's the Audience is Listening, it is even better than the original with Billy Sheehan's incredible bass playing!

Mike Portnoy is awesome, Petrucci has a great sound I really liked Joe Satriani's first song Up In Flames, he is a terrible singer though!!!!!! I hated how he sings Foxy Lady on the encore. I liked La Grange, sang by Billy Sheehan, I saw G3 do that live a few years ago. Smoke On The Water was great too, I love seeing them improvise solo's together.
Right Now you're reading my post!
