The VMA's started as a parody of award shows. Today they are a SAD parody of pop-culture. The people who win get up on stage and act like they've won the Nobel Peace Prize. It's sad. The performers are even more self-centered than they were in the 80s, and I didn't think that was possible.

Worse, almost none of the acts can perform well live.

It started out good. I remember, yeah I'm old enough, when the Buggles first video hit the MTV airways. I also remember alot of VH. The best was the concert stuuf especially " Unchained". It was like being at the show. I don't even watch it anymore. My wife likes the reality shows. I just surf on by.

What a great line about 'Diddy':

He’s going to be all worried about getting grape juice on that white suit — and you know he’s going to wear that tired-ass white suit.

My fave memory of MTV back when it was about the music, was watching the Shock the Monkey video. The live Van Halen vids were bonuses. Their contests were pretty cool too. It was so awesome when they first started MTV with the spacemen and all. Then they started the Head Banger's Ball, that was great!!

    Man what happened???

Now it's all about reality shit about people I couldn't give a rat's ass about, and rap crap. It really went to the shitter, didn't it??

MTV sucks. It is a complete waste of time watching any of the crap they show.

Me, too. And what's REALLY sad, my old reliable VH1 is gone, too. I have to watch CMT for music now...

On the other hand, VH1 Classic...CLASSIC.

MTV is such crap that I doubt "Video Killed the Radio Star" was even an ironic choice by someone over there...Probably aired simply because of the word video...

Bangers Ball was the shit. Then Ricky Rachtman took over....what a tool. I still watched it though. Rachtman is now dj'ing some really lame; Nascar/Rock n Rolll hybrid type show i heard one Saturday morning.

Anyone remember Buzzkill?? I loved the first few shows of that, but, i think that was the beginning of the end of the videos IIRC.

And to top it off, Suge knight gets shot in the leg at a pre- party hosted by Kanye West. Beautiful, just beautiful. If I close my eyes I could still see " So this is Love" on " I want my MTV."
