    Default SUM 41 & HFT

So I was sitting down on the lawn at DTE in Detroit last night getting ready for Motley Crue and what do I hear. The distinct double kick of the base and SUM 41 rips into Hot for Teacher. I have to admit the drummer sounded pretty good, the guitar was ok, still pretty cool to hear! Motley Crue put on a pretty good show, Tommy Lee is a wild man, and was particularley entertaining when he did the titi cam for like 15 minutes. If you can see these guys you should all go. A while back I started a thread on Crue vs. VH and without a shadow of a doubt Van Halen was the better show in Detroit. The crowd was much louder and musically Van Halen smoked that night at the Joe.

Crue put on a great show in St. Louis a couple of weeks ago. As we were walking in I heard Hot For Teacher from whoever. We skipped all the openers. At least I got to hear the best part from outside.

Motley was good, but VH was way better.

sigh...you hear in this forum about the younger generation now and how they don't appercate things like Van Halen and such. Then one of the bands plays Hot for Teacher, and so far its Blah they sucks, thats terrible. Meh. Anyone who loves the band and is willing to play VH songs and maybe introduce them to a new crowd is aces in my book. Good to say VH still has some influence on the under 30 crowd

I don't mind Sum 41, I don't tune out if they come on the radio...

Although they wouldn't rate among my favourite groups, they're 100 times better than some of the other crap that gets released these days...

It's great to hear about a modern band giving props to a legendary group like VH, Sum 41 deserve some respect for that...

That must have been a nice surprise! Good for the newer bands to pay homage to the greats that came before them.

I wish Sum 41 opened for Crue in Tampa back in February. That would've been better than just that claymation movie. I think the kids are pretty cool. They mix old and new pretty well. The lead singer, Derek I think his name is, looks like he could be Ed's kid. Anyway, Motley Crue was awesome! Vince and Tommy still hate each other and Mick Mars looks like he's already died, but the rock and it makes me wish that Van Halen would put aside their differences and just do the album and tour with Dave, make all of us "pathetic" (to quote a Hagar fan) people caught in 1984 happy. All I want is for VH to get back together and to smoke one more doobie before I die.

C'mon Ed, make a girl smile!
    Could this be magic?

yeah i was goign to start a thread on this a week or two ago after I saw Crue at PNC Bank in Jersey. They fucking rocked. They still know how to put on a good show, and if van halen wasnt my favorite band of all time i would say they held it down better than the boys did. Thtey partied hard, they played hard. I felt liike I was back in 89 for a bit. Which I like.

I am not a Sum 41 fan in any way, shape or form but your point is tremendous.

Cool to see Sum 41 pay a little tribute.

What other punk pop bands could even attempt this?? IMO, although I don't really like them, for what they play, I think they are one of the most talented bands in this genre of punk-pop(crap).
