Stupid hypothetical, but I may have already reached the point where I'd rather see the VHs with Mitch (or with anyone else who can sing) than watch them fade away from the music scene forever. Again, emulate "Rock Star" and play small venues with acoustics, bongos and no vocals. I'm in!

Fuck it, I'd take Mitch, generic and all, or someone else to sing both eras than nothing. Preferably Cherone!

Some of us would like to hear that from even an average woman.

Completely agree. I liked Cherone a lot, and didn't have a problem with Mitch after hearing the It's the Right Time tune and seeing the VH's Lost Boy segment on YT.

It's about hearing all eras again, you know - the songs - before some knucklehead wants to skew it into a lame Sam vs Dave thing...

I won't say it would have worked or whatever. But (in hindsight with how I know Gary ended up scream/singing) I would rather have liked to see Malloy with VH for two albums with no controversy within the band, no substance abuse, etc. Tour greatest hits/deep cuts first (jesus could you imagine at least how well they would have been sung), then album, then tour, then album, then tour. I could envision him singing some very good new VH songs written by Eddie and him.

I cant. He can sing, but good grief, he is just sooo...GENERIC.

It's just.....I am just curious to see if he would end up sounding as generic with Ed, Mike, and Al. Maybe so, but I wonder. I dunno. Only difference would be him working with the other three during production instead of him independently like he did for that demo. I don't know if that would change his "generic-ness".

oh...and I wonder if he possibly (due to his generic yet polished sound) would have spread VH to even more mainstream.

You make some good points, and certainly and interesting 'what if?'
Plus, Malloy is a producer and writer with lots of other artists who aren't hard rock. It might've been cool to hear how his experience in other genres would've gelled with Eddie's writing style then, as Edward had always played various styles. Sometimes in short burts, and sometimes whole tunes.

I still like it... Still wish it had Eddie's solo from TWILY, yet I think I prefer this version. Or at least rate them equal...

I'm a fan of softer stuff at times and/or uplifting music and lyrics. I'll be 47 on the 20th. I haven't been 17in a long time...
