The Dog Days of Summer are upon us!

OK...I love cold weather and snuggling up under a blanket by the fire, but I absolutely live for my summers. It's coming to an end, though. So, what has been your favorite memory from this summer?

    I have 2 GREAT memories:

June 10-12 Texas Linkers' Weekend in Dallas---I don't think it can get much better than this. Hanging out with old and new friends, listening to VH, drinking on ice cold beer around the pool, and meeting Mikey Metalhead, SNIC, TP, and Chewi for the first time. Them, along with Filthy150 and sixstring, I'm convinced are some of the finest people---not to mention Linkers---that you will ever meet. I'm ready for another one...anyone else???

Vacation down in Baja. I live for my summers in Cabo. I also met another GREAT Linker down there (te5150) and his wife. Toes in the sand, sun on your face, ice-cold Pacifico in your hand, and the sound of the waves---can't wait to be there again.

    OK...your turn...
    Meet me in Cabo!

Just hanging out. I have really enjoyed life this summer. I also got a dog...Isis...she is great. She is a mutt I rescued from the shelter. She seems so appreciative!

Good idea for a thread. There are so many things I could talk about, but here are a few highlights...

Just last week my sister-in-law and her youngest boy were out here for a week. My nephew and I hung out and went fishing just to name a few. You should have seen how happy he was b/c he really looks up to me. Great to find out you are a good influence to a kid. Always a great feeling.

Others - going camping with my whole family a few weeks ago and seeing my niece and two nephews. Visiting my father-in-law's family down in North Carolina.

Future Highlight - gonna go see Big & Rich and Brooks and Dunn on August 20th in Virginia with one of my bro's.

KT - sounds like you had a great summer. I know I hate to see summer end. Chicago has too many months of cold.

My good times this summer had to be the two Journey concerts (front row at both, baby!) and my driver winning the one race I got to go to this summer (go Junior!!).

That's it, I'm moving to Texas! I'm startin my lame ass freshman year tomorrow.

My summer royally sucked, but I think the only good thing about it was meeting Mike. He's really made me happy!

Other than that, I think the big thing was going to Florida for 5 days. Even if we were chased out by the hurricane, I had fun. Oh yeah, I should also mention that that was probably the longest I've been outside all summer (can someone say "goth in training"?).
So you broke down, trying to leave town, I broke down crying on your return. You left me feeling hopeful, I'll never see your face again. You made for a bad lover's liver. You stole all the covers and busted my head. You made me such an asshole, I wish we'd never met. I'm tired of being bored. I'm through with the headaches. One busy-ass summer for me. 5 of the last 7 weekends we've been at least partially away - did a weekend in D.C. end of June, then home for two weekends, then down to Cape Cod (cottage on the beach, SWEET) for a week (Sat to Sat), then back down to the cape the next weekend for a wedding, then to NJ to the parent's house last weekend.

My son started football on August 1st (he's 8), and I, like an idiot, volunteered to be an asst. coach. So, we went right into that 4 nights a week (now down to 3 per week, after Labor Day it will be 2 nights and games on Sundays).

I have NEVER been this fucking busy during a summer.

School doesn't start up here (for the wife and kids) until Labor Day. But it also goes until the last week of June.

And I don't want to discuss my golf game.

However, the Cape was NICE. Had a cottage on a little private road that dead-ended into the beach (private beach), we were maybe 200 yards from the beach. We're going to try to do this every summer, and go for 2 weeks if we can get a cottage. We shall see. I'm not a beach guy, but played some golf, read some books, and did spend a couple of days on the beach.

Summer was actually a bummer until the last few days. Went to The John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chi-town Monday and got to watch my daughter eyes light up as she saw fish and other aquatic life she's only read about in books.

And I just found out that I'm getting back in to radio as a DJ and production guru after a 4-year layoff. So maybe things will actually start looking up for me now. Here's to hoping.....

    Ahhh the Texas Linkers Weekend.
That was the highlight of my summer.
Since then it has been an assload of work.
And hotter than hell to boot.
I wish I had a more enjoyable summer, but hopefully the extra moolah will finance a nice fall/winter.

Next enjoyable moment should be Fogerty/ Mellencamp.
The Lains & Giles clans shall enjoy.

My hat's off to you Brad for saving that dog . More people should get their pets at a shelter. I'm somewhat involved in a new animal shelter that opened 4 months ago, in a town of aprox 15,000. In four months they've already have had to put down over 1,000 animals...very sad
