    Default EVH on Cornbread

Just saw the new Guitar One mag and it had a picture of Brad Paisley on front and stated that he was "Eddie Van Halen on Cornbread"...pissed me off. I know that good country players have a completely different style on the tele's, and BP is great...I just don't like him...at least they could have made the comparisons between Keith Urban and EVH...still not the same...I just like him better.

Dude...Paisley RAWKS. One of the best players / songwriters / singers out there. Wish more "new" country was like his stuff...

I don't want to take anything away from his talent, but he is a dime a dozen...you can come to any club in Nashville and find someone doing the same thing.

His licks and playing are smooth. His songwriting isn't that great to me. Most of his early stuff was all about giving a girl a ring, etc...much like Sam on love...Most of his hits were written by someone else, namely Bill Anderson.

I'll agree with you that he is good, just don't compare him to Eddie. Ed is the greatest of his class, Brad isn't.

And yes, I am take this way too serious!!!

I like some of his songs...but I did always think he had an attitude problem...I met him once a few years ago...he still had black eyes from getting his ass kicked in a bar.

LOL! That was down in Corpus Christi...

He hit on my best friend's wife...WHILE THE DUDE WAS STANDING RIGHT BY HER. Never witnessed such a crass display before in all my life.

I am going to agree with you on that one...I don't care much for those guys. I do, however, dig the Robison Bros, and REK...There's another band that may or may not be from Texas, but they play there...Cross Candadian Ragweed, some of there stuff is good...

By that line of rationale, every club in Nashville has a smokin' guitar player who also happens write somel good songs. Is that right? wow.

So who is the greatest of Brad's class? Wait. Let's define this thing.

What is Brad's class? Is he a songwriter or a guitar player? If he's both , then you'll have to find a better songwriter AND guitar player.

Put it this way, I just say it's about time they start recognizing country more - and I don't mean anything like that little faggot who sings with Shania in that gay as hell video, or Tim McGraw horseshit. Actual Country guitar players. And holy shit, Keith Urban? The dude can rip, but he writes and sings some queer shit, and sure dresses like one since he left the Ranch.

Most guitar mags have "Modern Rock" guitar players featured, and any guitar player worth his salt, knows that 90% or more of those clowns can't play for shit, and shouldn't even be featured in there. Like Eddie, Paisley can burn up a fretboard, and like Ed he has a hot actress wife (least Ed used to). No, I don't think Paisley is up there with EVH, but I thought it was a funny play on words nonetheless. More guitar mags should acknowledge country guitar players, just none of those faggoty bastards.
    FUCK THE DUMB SHIT!!!!

Yup, I've spent a good amount of time around the guy in East Texas, (Tyler, Nacogdoches), and can personally vouch for his asshole-ness. One of my favorite activities I frequently partake in with my buddies is "Make Fun Of Pat." He's more a cheesy, slimey salesman for Wanna-Be-Respected like Willie Nelson-Pseudo-"Texas"-Country Music, than an actual artist. It's more selling an image of Texas to Frat Boys and Non-Texans than anything else.
