Default Just watched Jump on VH1

    Okay...

I know this may not be the best place to post this, but wow... VH1 was playing videos for the last hour (rock videos at that), and the cherry on top of the perverbial sundae was the VJ chick mentioning the story about the brown M&M's and then faded into Jump...

Wow the boys looked so happy, and fun loving, and just well... I WANT MY FUCKING VAN HALEN BACK!!!!

I haven't smiled this hard and been this happy since well.. I dunno..

Kick ass...! I hear you. The happiness oozes from that video (as well as from many Hagar era videos). I wish they could capture that magic again and do it for the love of the band, music and fans. You can't fake that shit and that was sorely missing on the 2004 reunion tour.

Default Memories, like the corners of my mind...

It's kind of like flicking on ESPN Classic and watching Bird and Magic in their primes, or the 70's Steelers in action. Just seeing those guys at their peak, on top of the world, having fun.....reminds me of why I love these guys in the first place.

This is gonna sound bad, but I have to say it...I have to...
With all the grief Gary gets for his prancing around stage, is it me or is Diamond Dave just flaming in this video. Rubbing the mic stand on his ass and such...I know it was the 80's, but sometimes I get the creeps watching this one....not really a homophobe..just pointing to the double-standard again. Flame on.

Oh come on Jump again. That song has been overplayed to the point of where no other VH songs are remembered by the public at large. Goods times oozing out from Hot for Teacher and Panama too, but they don't get any airtime. I just wish that music stations play a wider variety from bands of Van Halen's stature, instead of just playing quote the BIG HITS unqote.

Agreed. If I didn't know who Dave was and just saw the video I'd
    believe that he was gay.

Dave had a macho image, he could have stuck the mic stand up his ass and kissed Eddie at the same time and people would have thought it was great.

To me Jump doesn't come off gay at all. Now Yankee Rose, GAY! Stand Up!, GAY! Most 80s videos look pretty fucking gay now, it was just the time.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

The cool thing about the Jump video is it cost roughly a grand or two. VH said they spent more money on beer than the video. That's funny.

Actually it was $600! Man, and Dave looks anything but ghey in the video, it looks like they are having fun, which is why the video is great. Stripped down, not over produced, and just smiles ear to ear.

I think Dave has a macho image too but he does dance around alot. Especially in the really old videos for YRGM, Little Dreamer etc. I saw that on VH1 last night too. I was waiting for it to be cut in by some lame ass comedian talkin shit but they actually played the whole video. Yeah Jump has been played alot in the past but it was still nice too see CVH on TV.

Yeah, but the original point stands. People went ballistic because Gary did some ballet, but no one cared when Dave wore bracelets and smouldered and poofed his hair life Cyndi Crawford. It was an embarrassing double standard that just showed how close-minded some people were.

Most great frontmen are a little fruity. Dave, Plant, Paul Stanley, Mercury (not just a little, and not kidding).

I caught the tail end of the show myself. Really enjoyed the Pink Floyd clip. As I watched "Jump" I couldn't help but wonder "Where have all the good times gone?" Loved the story from the host regarding the $600 price tag for the video, most of which was spent on beer. Classic Dave! It was nice to actually see more than one rock video played per day. Try it again, VH1!

I love it after the synth solo when Alex hits the crash cymbol about two beats too fast. Not his falt, stupid editors. Makes me laugh out loud everytime.
