    The Who thread!

Is anyone else a fan of The Who? I have been listening to them a lot lately. They have so many great songs. Their live in Boston DVD is incredible!! It's definately one of the best live rock concerts on film. It's just sad that there is only two original members left in the band.

My favorite songs by The Who would be....

    Substitute
    Squeeze Box
    5:15
    I Can't Explain
    Magic Bus
    My Generation
    Pinball Wizard
    Won't Get Fooled Again
    Love Reign O'er Me
    Who Are You

    You Better You Bet
    The Kids Are Alright

    Behind Blue Eyes

Big fan of The Who. If you like 'em live, I'm sure you already possess Live at Leeds...quite simply, one of the best live albums ever.

    Tommy can ya hear me.

Default I love the Who too!

I have not seen Live in Boston but I do own the Live at Royal Albert Hall from about 5 years ago and it is also very stellar performance with guest stars(some good, some not so good) but the three still had it aces at that point. Kind of sad that the Who gets lost lumped behind the Beatles and the Stones and Led Zep, because it many ways Pete Townsend's songwriting I think maybe some of the best of his generation. They certainly could be starters of punk if not power pop music for sure, they get forgotten so easily but I think they are one of the best bands of rock history.

Quite possibly the dumbest question ever posed in the history of history. Only joking. Yeah the Who are great when Pete is not looking at naked boys on his computer. I've heard good things about that album they salvaged out of the lifehouse sessions.

I love The Who. Who's Next is one of the finest albums ever made, IMO.

I also have the boxed set. They unfortunately have a lot of crap songs, but they also have tons of gems. Amazing band

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

    Party Naked Lunch

Like most people around this time of year, tied to a youngish family still at school, I drift into vacation mode. I had a good lunch last week with Roger Daltrey to discuss possible work in the coming six months. We've divided our hopes into two distinct areas: celebration of the past and the creative future. For the former we need to wait for Zak to finish his stint with Oasis. But even then, we're not certain what kind of work we will do or where we will do it. For the latter we depend entirely on me and my tortuously slow creative process. We have agreed to reconvene next February.

I'm a HUGE fan of The Who, have been for a long time. I was fortunate enough to see them back in 89 when it was Roger, Pete and John. I wish I could have seen Keith Moon play live, IMO, he's the best drummer ever to play!!!

The Who are one of the top 5 bands of all time, and maybe my 3rd favorite behind VH and Zeppelin. Live at Leeds is possibly the best live album ever- get the latest edition with "Tommy" on it- it's worth it. ON that album, you can hear hints of punk and AC/DC (in my opinion)- real heavy stuff during the 15 minute long version of "My Generation". They just played the shit out of their instruments live. Pete is in my opnion, the greatest lyricist/songwriter of all time. Watch them jam on a dvd such as "Isle of Wright" or "the Kids are alright" - truly brilliant. - Pete is also a decent soloist too, and invented feedback, if I'm not mistaken.- in fact I've read interviews where Hendrix admits copying him.

The Who is my second-favorite band. I got to see them when they were touring in '96 doing 'Quadrophenia'. Gary Glitter and Billy Idol were part of the show. Pretty cool!!!

Roger and Pete really need to retire the Who name. When the Ox went down, it should have been a pretty obvious and easy decision.

Probably should have put the band away in 78, but just because they didn't then, doesn't mean they should continue now under that name.

"No, but I would advise him to learn to lipread!!"

And put me down for Join Together as a Who favorite.
