Default No Dave or Sammy, then who?

WHo would you want as singer if Dave and Sammy are not options?

On the list I'd go with Gary. I think it's lame to say either Dave or
Sam or that's it. First of all, Dave doesn't have anything left so
there is no real reason for him to be back... And I doubt Sam will
    ever be the singer again.

It's not lame, it's reality. Geez. You'd think nearly thirty years of water under the bridge would've convinced non-believers by now.

On that list, none of the above is the answer. However, I will echo the sentiment earlier expressed in the thread...I was always up for Mikey taking over lyrics and them becoming a power trio, if necessary. Better that than Gary or a new singer.

It is lame. It seems some badly fear change... Dave is gone as an
entertainer... And he can't sing either. Van Hagar is done also and
those 3 new tunes were a sign of that. The old VH is done because
Dave can't do it anymore and Van Hagar is done because ED and
Sam have different views on things. So you have to move on.

At this point, I'd say ANYBODY, really. But I went with Mitch Malloy because I remember reading about how good the demos were with him and VH (from Mitch himself, though).

It's not about change. It's about what works and what doesn't. III didn't work, commercially or creatively. You may think so, but you'd be mistaken. But hey, I respect your respect for III. Sorta.

Are the Eagles done? Are the Rolling Stones? Is U2? It is possible to reinvent sound and tone and flavah with the same lyricist. Explore the differences between Girl Gone Bad and Me Wise Magic, or Summer Nights and Humans Being, for further elaboration.

Honestly, the only people who really think III and a new singer for VH was/is the best thing that could happen for VH are about a couple dozen dudes on this very website. In the real world, people are like, "Gary who?" "Van Halen did an album after FUCK?" "Van Halen had a third lead singer?" Etc.

If VH and Gary would have stuck to their guns, their 2nd release would have done better and we'd have continuity here.

How do you know what will not work? I believe VH's sales have dropped
on every album since 5150..... Van Halen III pretty much continued the trend... Rock changed so it's not a surprise that VHIII sold bad.
In the real world, most everyone isn't going to care anyway. I think
the only way Ed might get more fans is to go the Carlos Santana
route and I doubt Ed would do that.

Yes, The Rolling Stones are basically done. A new singer is the best
thing that can happen for VH because the other options suck. Dave
shouldn't be brought back because he simply can't sing.. I see no
reason why Van Hagar will hit the stage again and with a below
average Balance album and two mediocre tunes (IAT, UFB) I don't
think it would be a great thing anyway.

Huh. My understanding is, they're still selling out stadiums.

A new singer is the WORST thing that could happen to VH. You don't have to believe me. Just rehash their history for clear cut evidence. Just because YOU'D like it, doesn't mean it'd be a success.
