Default iPod, uPod, We Heart the Pod Gods

    Alright.
1331 songs, 11.5 gig, and untold hours later, I'm finally pod rocking.
Picked up a U2 model (black is just cooler) online for 279 US including
shipping and tax (got linx if you want em). And if you had told me at 18
that in the future I could carry a music library in my back pocket to plug
in anywhere, I would have spit my Space Dust and Pop Rocks in your
prescient face. It's like owning a half dozen satellite stations that
are always playing someting cool, cause they were programmed by me.
iPod made me excited about my music again. I'm hooked.

Here's what's making the rounds right now, though it may be easier to
    tell you what's not:

    Godspeed You Black Emporer
    Strays
    new U2 (naturally)
    Smile
    Hail to the Theif
    Philharmonie
    Steve Tibbets
    Kazumi Watanabe
    AIC
    The Bad Plus
    The Orb
    How the West Was Won
    With Teeth

    What's in your wallet?

    Default Size is the key

I shouldn't complain cuz I got mine for Christmas, but IMO....Ipod minis are a waste of time. The battery can't hold a charge for more than 3-4 hours of play time. (I heard the newer ones are better though)

If anyone is thinking of getting one, go large. The mini's are nice and small, but so is thier capacity. Worthless.

I find myself using the old Sony discman more than the mini ipod.

I'll be getting a larger one soon (20 or better yet the 60gb)

And I never signed up for the iTunes thing, I have enough cd's that I barely listen to, don't need to waste money buying more songs from ITunes.

If I like the music, I'll buy the cd.

    Not an Ipod, but.....

I got Creative's Zen Xtra Nomad Jukebox over Memorial Weekend. Not as trendy cool as the Ipod, but I got 60 GBs for $199 after rebate. That's right, bitches. SIXTY GIGS! I've got my entire (rather large) CD collection on there, and I've still got room to grow.

I absolutely love that I can carry around that much music on a device that's about the size of a really small Walkman cassette player (remember when they were the shit?).

I'm currently on a Robert Plant and Rush kick. My Black Crowes collection is also getting a lot of play. It just depends on what I'm in the mood for. Whatever I want to listen to, I've got it with me.

Oh, and the battery holds about a 14 hour charge. Just gotta charge it up every other day.

Yeah, I got a 20gb Dell for about $50 cheaper than the 20gb Ipod. Works just as good, maybe even better.

I recently got the 6Gig ipod mini. I think it's great. It'll hold over 1000 tunes, the battery lasts for about 8 hrs using the backlight all the time, and i like the size alot better than the regular ipod. I first got the zen micro and returned it because it was a piece of SH#$#@#$$

My MPx220 smartphone accepts up to a gigabyte of memory using the MiniSD card, and can play MP3s using Windows Media Player. Works for me.

I have a 60gig iPod that has just under half of approx. 200 cd's on it. I love the thing. Plus, I recently got a set of Harmon-Kardon soundsticks that I can use to rock out at home with. Really diggin' it.

I bought a 20 GB thinking I would probably never fill the thing. I have put a majority of my CD collection on it and am sitting at just over 13 GB and 4049 songs (suddenly realizing I own a shit load of music!). I have some stuff on there that will definitely get the boot if need be though.

Also the best purchase I have ever made. I bought the iTrip FM radio transmitter which I HIGHLY recommend. I can now take every CD I own in the car and to the office every day. It is too cool!

My first iPod was a 2nd generation 20GB. By about a year ago I'd maxed it out, and bought a 40GB 3rd gen. I'm 3/4 of the way there to needing to upgrade again. I'm hoping they've got 80-100 giggers out by this time next year.

I went through a ton of tape players, CD players, and other shit. None of it comes close. The flash-based MP3 players I've had were no more useful than my old Minidisc player. It was work to load them up, and I hate spending time on that sort of thing. The iPod is simply the best way I've ever found to maximize the investment I've made on my music.

The other thing that I'm absolutely digging are the Podcasts in iTunes 4.9. Apple has hit a homerun on this one! They're easy to use, accessible, and manage themselves. Probably half of my time on my iPod is spent on talk radio type stuff.

Smart Playlists rock. If y'all have a decent sized library and aren't using them, you're missing out.

All in all, it's the best music management/playback system out there. I can't imagine saving $50 and buying something inferior. That's chump change.

I have my 40gig Pod almost full, took along time to transfer my music collection, plus I went for a high bit rate, the 128 and 192 sounds pretty inferrior to me.

I need to get me some of those Soundsticks II they look awesome and from what I haer sound just as good as they look.

I like the fact I can go anywhere with my complete collect in my back pocket.

In saying that, when I really want to sit down and listen to music nothing beats the home stero system cranked the fuck up!
